Sorry but this is BS. This conversation started with me sharing an anecdote from ACTUAL cast members who are on the ground at Disney Springs CURRENTLY. It then flowed naturally from there, and I'm including the people who disagree with me.

This insistence that conversations are forbidden from flowing organically and need to remain 100% precisely within the exact verbatim rules that the moderators infer from the thread title is ridiculous and it's not how any other forum I participate in operates.
I think the problem is not veering off topic. That’s usually allowed for a few posts. That’s a natural thing to happen during discussions. It’s when it veers, then goes on for pages and pages where if someone were to come here during that chat they would see no relationship with the actual thread title. Sometimes it veers off of the original veer. @THEMOM will let it got for a bit but will shut it down and delete If it goes to long which she should. Brings everything back on topic.

Is your reservation at the Boardwalk Villas or the hotel side Boardwalk Inn? As yet thee is no opening date for the non DVC resorts bar Fort Wilderness.

If it’s at the villas they won’t do anything because the villas will be open. If it’s at the Boardwalk Inn and it isn’t open I guess they may offer you a DVC room but I would expect them to simply cancel. Just because the DVC part of the resort is open doesn’t mean the rest of it will be.

We are not DVC members and we are at The Boardwalk Inn July 6. We do not want to go without the parks. What we would like is, to be moved 2 weeks back to July 20, when all parks are open. AND I want to keep my rate. When I checked the new rates (before the system went down) they had increased a Lot. We are willing to go in July even with all the new rules and canceled activities , we just don't want to pay more.

Asking not to “pay more,” is a request that will require a lot more than “pixie dust.”

In that case, unless they decide to open more resorts before the parks you’ll likely be fine.

As soon as they open up for new bookings I think you’ll be able to modify it easily enough. And if it’s cancelled before you do that then you can just book again.

You should be able to get the 35% room discount. Doesn’t help on food or park tickets but it should reduce the cost of the room itself. I am pretty sure they said anyone who had a cancelled reservation would be eligible for the room discount.

Has there been any hint as to when Disney will open up park and restaurant reservations? Or provide info as to which Resorts/Restaurants will be open?

Not yet. The only thing they said is that people with existing reservations and linked park tickets would get first access to the new reservation system and that they don’t need to do anything because Disney would be in touch. I assume that means we will start hearing from those people as soon as e-mails go out with instructions.

They have said nothing on which resorts or restaurants would open. All speculation right now. From the NBA thread it looks like CSR will likely be the sight for the NBA so that resort will be unavailable to guests. Even that’s not confirmed officially but looks more and more likely.

I would imagine it is going to be “walk in or up” for the time being.
That’s possible. I’m trying to figure out if that causes more issues or less. Having everyone lining up at a restaurant to put their name in could be worse than reservations. Maybe they do a hybrid where they open in-park ADRs only on the day of for anyone with a park reservation. Knowing how many people are reserved that day may help to direct how many restaurants to open and what demand is likely to be. On lower reservation days they may open fewer places.

It will be up and running once they work out a few kinks. Right now it only runs on an Iphone 15 with 6g and only can show availability for Tony's Town Square. If you receive an email at the same time you are searching for a reservation it overheats the battery and melts the screen.

Why would anyone spend all that money to go right now
I can't speak for others, but I'm DVC and AP, so I've already paid for my room and tickets. I'm keeping my reservation because 1. I'm hoping for really low crowds/ fewer in the stroller brigade, and 2. I think it'll be one for the ages - a totally different kind of Disney trip we can look back on and joke about. Also, I work from home since travel has been suspended so I really want a change of scenery!

I remember way back in the early 80's, we'd get to EPCOT Center right at opening and my dad would make the walk to the back of the park (this was before International Gateway was even created) to Italy to go get a reservation for my family at Alfredo's because that was the only way you'd get a reservation at the Disney restaurants. It'd be amazing if things wound up coming full circle.

I remember even as recent as the 90s not having any reservations made prior to our trip. We had a loose plan on which parks to visit but even that was flexible without ADRs or FP reservations. It was a different experience for sure. I feel like we park hopped a lot more back then too. Maybe due to the flexibility and later park hours or maybe I was just younger and more full of energy ;)

The first trips we took in 2006 and 2008, I think the only advance reservations we worried about were the Princess meals for our daughter and that was about it. FPs were gotten at the entrance of the ride to come back at a certain timeframe, the rest of the time we ate meals near the area of whichever park we were. It felt a good bit more relaxing at that time.

You should’ve told your dad about Worldkey.
