It still boggles my mind that we are nearing a year and is still currently in the middle of a pandemic yet some people can't seem to fully comprehend it as seen below.

I don’t know what to think about this person. Some of the complaints are legitimate, but then it spirals out of control. 😂
I got the impression from reading it that he didn’t enjoy the new normal at WDW not so much that he was against the precautions. A lot of posters feel that way and don’t want to return until it’s back to the old normal.

It doesn’t sound like he will be back for a while.

Yep, it’s not for everyone. Neither is WDW in normal times. I haven’t seen a lot of stuff lIke this so I assume the vast majority of people who went to WDW for NYE did some research ahead of time and understood some of the limitations. There are always going to be some people who don’t or choose to ignore it.

There is a little bit of dystopia feeling when your there, but Disney does the best they can.

I was going to add - it doesn’t seem that Facebook poster is worthy of public shaming just so we can feel a bit more virtuous about how serious we take the pandemic...

Let’s face it: COVID-19 fatigue is a real thing. And it’s okay to vent about it. It’s ok to long for normalcy again. Some people have mental illness. Some people don’t have the mental fortitude to hide their frustration and pandemic fatigue. And that’s ok. Let them be.

As far as I can tell, this guy wasn’t breaking any rules. He followed the precautions and wore a mask at all times. Didn’t cause a scene. Seems like there was something that used to bring the dude a little sense of joy in life, and he’s longing to have that back. We all handle things in our own way. It’s kind of sad, really... not 350,000 dead Americans sad. But two things can be sad at once.

He says he was asked to leave, and posted a pic of that sign. I’m assuming he was asked to leave because he wasn’t wearing his mask properly. So he did break a rule. Just because he’s tired of following restrictions doesn’t give him the go ahead to violate a policy.

That is not what I gathered from the post. I took it as he was asked to leave due to the park closing. If he weren’t wearing a mask, he would’ve been told to leave much earlier... unless he just randomly decided to remove it at the end of the night. Who knows. You may be right, I may be right. But I’ll choose to assume the best in people until I’m led to believe otherwise.

The park closed at 10pm. He says he was walking toward the exit at 9pm and was asked to leave. Why would he say he was asked to leave and post the pic of that sign? I don’t think he took his mask off. He probably wasn’t wearing it properly, like the sign says. Seems pretty clear to me. Why even mention you were asked to leave, if you weren’t?

Not sure honestly. The whole post is pretty off the wall, no doubt. I just attribute that to frustration and a lack of self-awareness rather than malice. And it’s okay to be frustrated with COVID rules. Believe it or not, it doesn’t make you a bad person if you’re frustrated with it all... as long as you follow them. Whether or not he followed the rules seems pretty gray. The public shaming seemed to be due to his general ignorance rather than any real rule-breaking. I just don’t see the villain that you do... but maybe that’s the difference between us. I’m not on the hunt all the time

I’m as tired of this pandemic as anyone. But it’s people like this who keep it going. Just follow the darn rules. Let’s get out of this mess.

He’s just lucky Morocco wasn’t part of his new years ritual...

The stuff like no fireworks or characters or DJs should have been known going in. I could see not realizing the no drinking at the bar thing and being a little turned off by that.
The temp checks, the masks, the signs everywhere, floor markers, none of it's normal. Even if you prepare for it and are used to it at Wal mart. it's surreal seeing it at the most magical place on earth. I get why some don't want to go.

Where was the public shaming? Because he was asked to leave the bar? It didn’t sound to me like anything he described was anything more than Disney doing the best they can under the circumstances. It’s up to guest to decide of the experience is worth it or not.

I get it too. Part of a good vacation, especially to WDW, is an escape from reality. It’s hard to do with all of this going on.

There’s no room for nuance in here!

I still felt the escape. My entire family was happy and entertained for a week. No refreshing smartphone news apps for this hour’s new hell. And back in August, crowds were light. We felt safe. It was exactly the recharge we needed. We need it again now, honestly, but it’s not an option right now.
