News Walt Disney World theme parks increase capacity but see longer waits and less physical distancing

Exactly. The middle seat rule prevented 3 single flyers being in a row together. 2 is less than 3. If you sat in the aisle seat that’s potentially up to 5 people within 6 feet of you vs 3 with the 2 middle seats empty. It reduced exposure, never eliminates it completely.
Yup. That is the only reason for reducing those row capacities on airlines. If someone in my row, in front or behind me has the flu or a stomach bug it's been proven that I'm going to catch it. Doesn't matter if they're 3' away or sitting shoulder to shoulder with me. (I've been flying, using lysol wipes for years now and since I started this I only caught pertussis/whooping cough... that was a bad time.)

To be fair it creeps me out when there isn’t a virus. Whenever I can I’ll book an odd time when I can get a decent rate in 1st class.

Still... the argument seems to be if you can’t separate 6’ then there’s no need to separate at all. Seems like skipping middle seats was a nice middle ground between 6’ and 0.
Not the best middle ground for the airlines, pretty obvious considering most have eliminated it.

That has no impact on the middle seat either way, was not required.
It was to lure people back and make them feel comfortable flying. It doesn't work for the airlines for a variety of reasons. One big reason is the employees commuting to work. They are usually occupying those last remaining middle seats.

More likely it was determined to be an overreach on safety and not necessary. Much like one way shopping aisles in stores, all my groceries have pulled up all their stickers etc. Like I mentioned with Tokyo Disney is doing today, we will probably see minor adjustments like this until summer.
I never understood the one way aisles. You still pass people. I'm not standing back waiting on someone to decide what can of soup they want.

My Best Buy is a maze with all the aisles blocked off trying to move people in one direction. It's the stupid is thing ever. Little kids would have a ball if you turned them lose and told them to find there way out.

How does someone just drop dead of covid like that? Was it a heart attack driven by covid he had previously? If the man had symptoms why was he flying? Typically to be in that bad of condition you would have had to been hospitalized first. Social Media is just really terrible most times and people love to believe what they see on twitter as fact. :(

it's happened before. Some lady died on a Spirit flight this summer (I believe) and this was confirmed by at least 2 people on the same flight AND air traffic patterns (they rerouted to New Orleans). Since covid is a respiratory virus and the cabin pressure on a plane is different, that could have triggered it

My point is, this was a flight from Florida where the family had obviously been at Disney World.

Its just crazy to me that people in such dire straits with major symptoms would even consider going to the airport and on a plane. Not only for their sake but for the other 150 people you could infect. I feel for the family that had to see that but wow, why on earth would you let your father/husband go on that plane?

Agree. 100%. People are selfish which is why this thing has dragged on...welcome to the US.

So a lady dropped dead on a flight from Orlando, and we know for a fact it was a sudden death from Covid. I've never heard of that. We also know for a fact she was at WDW and contracted Covid there. Two people confirmed it so it must be true?

I agree we don't know. The one thing that does bug me is how quick many will say it can't happen at Disney. Are people afraid that if people get Covid at Disney it will shut them down or something?

I doubt you have anything to back up the statement that "many" will be "quick" to say "it can't happen at Disney." I'm being told one particular poster back in March said something about it not being possible for the virus to get into WDW, but I sure haven't seen anything like that and I've been following fairly closely.

What I have seen are statements that Disney has instituted safety protocols that make it less likely for the virus to spread there. I've also seen skepticism in regard to unsubstantiated claims by people about actually getting the virus at Disney - that's not even close to saying it could never happen.

I have seen many times when it's mentioned some one got Covid at Disney the usual answer is that they could have got it anywhere so you can't prove it. Just look at when I posted about that person from Disboards getting Covid at Disney. So many were quick to deny it could happen there. Saying he probably got it on the flight or anywhere else. He couldn't possibly get it from Disney.
