Valid concern, I paid for a Lagoon View for our upcoming trip and that is what I expect, I'd be a little upset if I got a pool view though typically if you talk to the check-in cast members, they will accommodate you.
They're not downgrading anyone who already booked, you'll get what you paid for.

Weird considering this could be construed as viewing some kind of actual body of water. Obviously not confusing for those who know the AK Lodge grounds, but still.
20 years ago they were all “water view” and people didn’t like it because they misconstrued what they would be seeing.

This is “change for the sake of change”

It makes no sense at DAKL…as the pool is the only “water”

Just realized at the GF, the only thing listed as a water view is the lagoon. The "resort" view can be the pool, marina or courtyard. That actually makes sense. They just streamlined the "Garden" view.
So in their initiative to get consistency, they're actually less consistent. By that standard, Animal Kingdom Lodge shouldn't have "water view" at all.

Correct…”water view” is more confusing

Fun fact: I participated in a study project on this exact same thing decades ago (there were price adjustments involved…there for FREE MONEY)…and we found that water view actually cost money on confusion/room changes at that time.

I bet IT lost the study 🤪

Do you remember when they discontinued Arusha Savanna view as a bookable category and why?

This is a joke right?

They are literally rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.
Easy, fella…

I left probably just prior to that…

But I was there during construction and the original shakedown/“issue” with DAKL.

It was meticulously built…disney hasn’t tried really anything since with perhaps the exception of your favorite island place…
Just beautiful from the late Pete Dominick…

But the “theming” never hit.

Early feedback was some dissatisfaction with the “distance” to the animals and the people pens…which shows both typical stupidity and the limitations on what you can do in an OSHA world…

As far as Arusha goes…it’s a natural view obstruction and the design wasn’t fantastic for the animal enclosure around. They’ve done better with baiting/retraining over the years.

In reality? Shoulda gotten a marquee species in that area…maybe a hippo bog or some white rhinos.
Of course…big girls have big horns/tusks 😎

But a Resort View is now a standard? Some standards are absolutely terrible-- Yacht Beach stone roofview, Boardwalk bus stop trellace view, and AKL no sunshine view. I purposely book the garden/upgrade view to avoid any chance of these worst views.

I am fine with the old classification of rooms as they were specific and different enough (pool v lagoon is a huge difference), but I would rather they cut down on the crazy number of seasons and wonky per night pricing. You can stay a week and have up to 4 prices for the exact same room.
