Walt Disney World Railroad closing for most of October for refurbishment

Got to finally see it again last year. Just like I remembered when I was a kid. Love it!

The Fantastic Primeval World, a slightly bizarre but thrilling sight after the Grand Canyon Diorama. And a highlight of the Disneyland Railroad, and a Walt Disney classic since 1966.

Funny how they built a Primeval World for Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, and a Grand Canyon Diorama for Disneyland Paris in 1992. But in WDW in 1971 they added neither the Grand Canyon Diorama nor the Fantastic Primeval World to the Railroad. And so many WDW fans who have never been to Disneyland don't realize there's supposed to be more to their railroad journey than just trees and Indian teepees.

And if TDO wanted to add either a static Diorama or an animatronic Primeval World to the WDWRR, where along the line should they do it? Between the Tomorrowland and Main Street stations like at Disneyland? Or perhaps between the Frontierland and Tomorrowland stations of the WDWRR, where there's so much empty swampland and boring foliage?

There's no Tomorrowland station at WDWRR -- there's a Fantasyland one. Doesn't defeat your point, though.

That northern stretch of wasteland towards Floridian Way would be best IMO. No one would see the show building back there.

Good point. Can't think of anything else that would represent Florida though. Hurricane experience?

Why would it have to represent Florida, though? Neither of the diaramas in Anaheim represent California.

Sounds good to me and that would be a solid location. There's not really much of anything to see once you get past Frontierland IIRC. Using the Grand Canyon idea would be fine Dinosaurs already have good representation in WDW). Or even just picking a new area, something that isn't detailed in WDW like Australia (like Ayer's Rock) or Egypt (Pyramids/Sphynx).
