So no one has had a chance to check it out?

At the very least I'm hoping new trees have been planted to sort out the mess it became, but I somehow doubt it.

Well this does suck, but every October it seems at least one major attraction if not 2 are down, so im glad its this and not any of the mountains for our halloween trip!
We will be there for Halloween also! Yay! Beyond excited :). Do you happen to know how the crowds are on halloween at MK?

It actually didn't open till the 21st - we rode it, but I hadn't been on it since I was a kid so can't say what was different! We only rode it 1/2 a circuit, but Friday I want to ride at least a full circuit. It was nice!

the biggest change is that it now has stops at DHS and DAK.

There is plenty that could/should be done, but I doubt it'll be anything more than a general clean-up, fixing railroad ties, etc. It'd be wonderful if:

1. They could fix access to the Frontierland station. Try getting up there with a stroller...nightmare.
2. They'd make there be something to see. A replica of the Grand Canyon and Primevil World from Disneyland is way too much to hope for (and I'd prefer something different anyways), but how about adding something to see?
3. Somebody could come up with narration that tells a story, or at least provides a reason to ride.

But I don't expect any of that. I'll certainly take a general clean-up and rehab, but I really wish there would be something done to make this more of a real attraction unto itself, rather than just a mode of transportation that is difficult to access.
Three words:"Western River Expedition"

We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour on the 19th, and walked behind Pirates and crossed over the tracks where they were doing metal work on the tracks and crossing. Our guide said they were replacing rails and doing general repair work.

Yes GrumpyFan....replacing rails and ties was the main project. I was there in October from the 16th to the 27th. Don't remember exactly when it reopened but rode it many times once it did. I didn't notice any work done to any scenery, but the ride on the train itself is much smoother and quieter. A fine job, well done, by the RR maintenance crew.

I'm still hoping for improvements to the trees and environment at some point, because in my opinion the other Magic Kingdom parks have better looking railroads.

Having said that, it's good the track has been improved.

I rode it Nov. 10th...the speakers never came on from Main Street to Frontierland but after that everything looked and sounded mostly the same didnt really notice any big differences honestly.
