Walt Disney World Park Attendance Numbers

Back in September/October I couldn't find a room in January/February to book unless I wanted to spend a mortgage payment per night on a suite. Suddenly I can book a room and get my passholder discount too...

Since we are self employed and live an hour away...we tend to book within smaller windows of time for long weekends when we find a price that we like..if the price is not to our liking we just drive in...when we lived in MA we would have trips plotted out a year in advance to coincide with vacation schedules.

I paid $265 a night for a Wilderness cabin for the last weekend of September...I booked for $169 a night for the first weekend in January...if I wasn't worried about one of our contracts surviving the next 4 years..I would be booking every weekend I could at that rate. I am waiting for a killer deal on a 3-4 night cruise on Disney or RCL.

I don't think I am going to get a deal on DVC that makes sense for us and the way that we visit the parks..I would love to buy into the BLT...if I win the lottery I'll take it as a sign to waste the money and buy in.

That was the first thing I said when I read it. My husband said they were talking about the typical consumer, not us. But I know more people than just us and no one I know plans in just 10-12 weeks.

Believe it or not, 10-12 week plan-outs are not un-common... a few years back, I planned a trip with about 8-10 weeks before we are to leave.. My boss planned a trip last fall about a WEEK before he left.. How he got a room, I'll never know..

The average person doesn't realize how much planning a WDW trip takes until they go on their first one....

. Celebrating a grand gathering of 11 and will now have an extra $750 to spend in the gift shops, or go see La Nuba . Has anyone taken small children to see La Nuba?? ( ages 9, 6 and 3) and if so did they enjoy it????

We took our boys when they were 6 and 8...seemed like they were the only youth in the theater that night. They were spellbound. Like, mouth-hanging-open, not a peep, wide-eyed. We've since seen a few of the traveling shows as they came into our region, and its been the same. Your kids will love it.

I think you have it backwards. 1 UK pound = $1.49 US $.

So the folks in the UK still have a good deal.

Yes. I mis-wrote the conversion.

But while it may seem like a good deal for us, the UK market has gotten used to a two to one ratio ... they've also gotten used to cheaper air fares.

Add in the fact that their banks have had problems and they are also developing a housing crisis means the throngs of pasty-white UKers eager to spend a month (and many $$$) in Orlando are ever-shrinking.

And these folks, with other Europeans and South Americans to a much lesser extent, have been filling in as Americans have cut trips to WDW over the past 6-18 months.

I booked my upcoming visit to VWL in Feb 08 for Dec 08 and had trouble finding 7 nights together for the period I wanted - 2.5 months!! - who is WDW trying to fool? 11 months is a short period now.........

The only people I've seen excitedly posting on this board RE this offer are those who had existing ressies and are calling back to change them to the discount.

Haven't seen anyone yet say they were booking a new ressie because of it.

( Raised hand...)

I did!

Yes, i booked the 4 Day-3 Days Free package for my trip. I was toying with the idea of visiting in January 'off-season' for a couple of months after my last trip in September. I was sitting on the fence though, as i was unsure - would the airfares still be high ( or higher) then, and would i not be able to afford it at that point? When i saw the new offer annouced ( right here on WDWMagic i might add..) i immediately jumped on it. I booked the day it became public and had no problems booking online for one of the Value Resorts. The $200 Gift Card add on was a nice plus, as this can be used inow or in the future to help pay for my next trip.

So the deal did get me to book..yes...but i am a bonifide 'Worldphille' and go every year regardless. Even though i already have a 10-Day Non-Exp Pass, the package was just too good to pass up so i bought the additional required ticket medium. I can just save the 10-er for the future.

It is just a nice perk though knowing that this is the nicest package offer i have been able to take advantage of in some time ( the last being the first ever 'Free Dining' offer a few years ago..with NO restrictions....) I have told everyone i know about this offer, hoping they will be able to use it to visit as well.

So i'm one of the rare ones i guess who booked a 'new' trip based solely on the affordability of the recent package offer. I am thrilled !
