Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

I am running Dopey. My flight is Wednesday evening after the expo. I am planning to show up at the 5K with my necessary documents and grab my first bib (like I did 4 years ago).

I know the website says it’s not available. But it HAS to be. What about flight delays etc?? I think they say not available to really discourage that practice.

Think I am in trouble? I forgot to see if a small bib pickup was available for Wine&Dine.

As a newbie, I was actually thinking about moving my flight BACK for Springtime Surprise. The first expo day, is the first day of races (being the Everest 5K) and is the day I am currently scheduled to arrive. I just fear flight delays because you figure if the race is at 10 PM buses probably start around 6-7 PM (ish). I need time to go to the expo, my flight is due to arrive at noon if it is delayed though it shrinks the window even more.

Haven’t committed to pushing it back a day yet…considering keeping it but I am in a similar situation to you. I should be fine, but not sure yet.

EDIT: I know during Wine & Dine I believe I heard they were doing race day pickup. It was only from a YouTube video though, which is hardly a reputable source

The runDisney website specifically said no race day pickup for bibs and I did not see a tent for that, unlike past on property races.

@surfsupdon, my advice would be to call runDisney tomorrow and double check.

I can. I just cannot imagine them saying sorry you’re out your $600 and we can’t give you your medals.

Flights change, delays, weather, traffic, etc. I feel confident but I still worry a tad.

rD says a tent will be available for Dopey pick ups for the first bib on Thursday morning...please bring your digital waiver and photo ID. Should be all good to go now!

Anything is possible. One year WDW cancelled the full marathon the day before the race with thousands of runners already in town due to weather.
With weather that stinks but I kinda get it. With this I think it’s different and they’ll have to cancel ahead of time. Truly starting to feel like they will. Or at least give the option to people

I would hope they would give (us) runners options. There will be some who want to race, I am one who would be fine with running virtual or move my bib to 2023.

I took my husband and mom off our reservation for Marathon race trip and moved them to Princess Weekend.

Was hoping for you to chime in. My fear is really bad news in the next 2 weeks gets the convo changes rapidly.
I honestly know NOTHING. Since I'm only a seasonal CM I'm not in the loop for ANYTHING regarding this but my assumption is that they'd add more "covid protocols" vs canceling the race. My schedule for that weekend drops on the 29th so I guess we'll find out then :)

I don’t think the weekend will be canceled. Of course, this is only a guess. Like said above, they would probably enact stricter COVID guidelines before cancelling the actual race. I don’t expect a COVID shutdown for runDisney races.

What stricter protocols can they enact?
