Seems like the courses are similar to the past, with a couple minor changes:
  • Mile 3-ish of the 5K will be through Future World East, rather than West as in years past (I wouldn't be surprised if they had GOTG characters here)
  • The Half will enter Epcot between The Land and Imagination. It seems like this is a slightly longer route than before, so I'm not sure where distance is being taken away (start/finish location, maybe?) [Edit: Looks like the out-and-back to World Showcase Lagoon is gone, which probably accounts for the change. Too bad, I always enjoyed that part]
  • The Full will go down the main path through Africa in DAK, rather than the side path by the Harambe Marketplace
There's also an emphasis on taking buses to the expo from Disney Springs, which I don't think I've seen before. Parking is still available at WWOS for people driving in.

I'm sure other people will find more things that are new or different this time year!

Oof the full is a WHOLE lotta road running...I'm still planning on #Dopey2020 tho!

The goodie bag enables you to buy a day of Blizzard Beach Ticket for only $30.

If the weather is nice, we may take them up on that offer! But probably not because it isn't Typhoon Lagoon. Haha.

For all of you running I will think good thoughts that race days are warmer than this year! (But not too warm either 😉)
I'm hoping for WARMTH! Heat. I don't want to be cold at the start or get chilled running into the wind.

But I conquered the frigidity of Dopey last year.....now I can do anything.

I’ve been saying this each time this year I’ve run in bad weather (I ran the 5K and the half during marathon weekend). About a month ago it was snowing during our group run and I said to myself « this is nothing compared to WDW Marathon weekend » and then a week or so ago it was raining pretty hard and again the same thought. It was also the first time I ever did a race alone, having until that time always been in the starting corral with friends.

Did they draw the map incorrectly for the half? They have the course go through the Epcot toll plaza at mile 11 which I don’t recall them doing before. Seems like it would create an awful traffic nightmare as the park opens while runners are finishing. It seems like it’s already bad enough on race mornings without having to section some of it off for the race. Although I would greatly welcome the omission of that last overpass!

We still need a meet up on Sunday I suppose, but I don't know where to go about doing this. Hmmm.

Any suggestions?

Where's everyone staying? I'm at Bay Lake. Wonder if I could get us into Top of the World Lounge as I'm DVC.

I want cool weather like we are having now. Upper 50s would be perfect.

Incorrectly represented. The course does not go through the toll plaza. Same approach to Epcot as the past several years - sharp turn from Epcot Center Drive and up and over the toll plaza road. Enter the park at the same location, but turn right instead of left onto Ave. of the Stars, an interesting little change.

Great observations. The 5K change is the most interesting considering the construction of GotG. Why have runners go through there when the park is closed? Agreed on the Epcot change for the half. I liked the out-and-back past the fountain, but the 2019 version also looks interesting. Looks like the backstage loop is about the same distance as the out-and-back was. Also looks like they took out the little turn at Big Thunder Mountain on the half & full. There have been a few very minor course changes in AK over the years - this is just another one of those that has no impact on the experience. I'm really hoping for a course overhaul in 2020 or 2021 to eliminate some of the useless elements, like the mile 11 turn-around on Western Way for the full. I want to run through Pandora and SWGE! They can easily make changes to the WWoS portion of the race to account for incorporating new areas.
