Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Going to Academy Sports today to get some cheap throw-away jackets for this weekend.

Haha I’m doing the same thing tonight! On Weather Bug, it has the “feels like” as 29-33 through the duration of the half. I’ve never run in such cold temps (I’ve somehow managed to miss all the races with freezing temps during past WDW Marathon weekends) so I’m getting pretty nervous. My husband and parents are trying to talk me into skipping - which just drives me to stick with it even more. ;)

Bathrobes. Cheap ones from Target.

Layer under that - running tights, long sleeve running shirt, light weight jacket, gloves and something for your ears.

I appreciate the tips! Academy had a good selection. I ended up getting some lightly lined pants, a nice long sleeve shirt with thumb holes (love those things!), a light jacket, and some crazy “Michael Jackson” gold gloves with pockets for hand warmers. I might sew up a quick headband with some extra fleece I have - I can’t stand those fitted ones. Thinking of trying everything out on a short run tomorrow or Thursday. My husband started bribing me with money to stay home, lol!

Do we know if there is a chance the weather will swing the other way and by some miracle it will be warmer? I'm most worried about my asthma at this point

I would much rather run in the cold than the warm/hot. 29-33 degree weather is perfect if you ask me.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I prefer the cold over hot and humid any day. I just feel unprepared since this type of weather is so rare in this area. But I think back to that W&D in the rain, and the 30s don’t seem so bad! ;)

I’m just glad there are no races this morning. It’s currently pouring with a “feels like” in the mid-40s. I don’t even want to walk from my car to the office!

This morning it was 4. Not 40, not 14...4. In fact, since Christmas day the highest temp we've had was 21. Doesn't make for great training weather. And with this storm on the way Wednesday/Thursday - I'm just hoping we have no flight issues getting out of Philly or into Orlando.

Sound like you are in my area of the country. I am in New Hampshire and the high today is expected to be 15.
That is up about 10 degrees from yesterday. Even 50 degrees is going to feel warm, once I get there.

Academy had a 50% off sale. Score!

South Georgia was a mess this morning. I was working farther north in Athens and it was sunny. On the way home I passed a few southbound GDOT trucks with plow attachments.

Just to make things worse, it's going to be breezy in Orlando. Wind chill anyone?

I have a sinking feeling this will be the second year in a row I’ll miss out on the half. Last year lightning, this year bombogenesis. My flight isn’t canceled yet, but it really isn’t looking good.

IMG_1449.JPG My 5K was great; I was proud of myself for being so warm. I used 5 layers and I was never cold with the waiting around. Tomorrow the 10K I will be employing the same strategy. Stay warm.

Oh AK was MOBBED. Had lunch at Nomad and rode Everest 2x. Single rider. Insanity over there, worse than what I've seen for multiple NYE trips.

Nice pic and sweater!
Parking lot of AK was full today. And read that several rides were down, so that explains massive crowds.
