While most likely cut due to cost, there's also the possibility that the people who knew how to install and run it aren't working there anymore, which would require extra time and training to make it work -- and the job market is still tight. There might also be supply chain issues if they're replacing all the strands.

It was going to be all new hardware, and the people are available to do it. This is one news item I posted that I wouldn't mind being wrong about ;)

Color changing lights would be awesome! And they wouldn’t necessarily have to take them down.

And how could putting the lights up Not bring in guests? Not putting the lights up surely isn’t going to draw in guests.

I'm pretty sure that the DHS event is not going to go down very well with a lot of people, but I think it will still likely sell out.

Hmmm, so:
1. Causes DHS to close early a few nights a week just like MK does
2. Is still an after-hours (DHS doesn't close early) but has Christmas offerings that used to be free now only available for a price
3. Has something amazingly awesome for Christmas that's brand new, but the price to go is astronomical

I don't know, I will guess a combination of 1 and 2 - a party that starts early like the one at MK and has things that used to be free now only available at parties. A party that started early would annoy me because MK also has one and there is no need for 2 parks to be closing early. Early I mean by 7.

I think it’s obvious we won’t be hearing anything sooner than September at this point. Possibly for Epcot’s new show to. I suppose if nothing does get said in September that doesn’t mean “sparkling lights” isn’t happening in 2024.
F! proved that last year. It's just frustrating that when we think it's the right time for TDO to announce something they don't and then we have no clue when they going to if the project is still approved! We shall see how antsy TDO is when it comes to MK Entertainment!..........

If a Night Parade is going to MK and not anywhere else on property of course.......

Just guessing at the lineup for DHS compared to MK's MVMCP.....This needs to be DAH with F! for all! IMO, could always be wrong.

Here's a first look at a new “Frozen”-inspired entertainment experience coming to Magic Kingdom that can be seen during regular park hours and during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

For the first time in forever, guests will be able to join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and the Snowgies in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom for “Frozen Holiday Surprise,” a brand new “Frozen”-inspired entertainment experience that will illuminate the castle in a whole new way. This delightful new offering can be seen during regular park hours and during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Is it just me or is this very vague? It seems like hedging language. Dream lights could return and illuminate the castle in a whole new way. So could projections…

Is it still possibly undecided or are the Disney writers just bad writers? Concept art looks to projections, but the language is strange. Maybe Disney just doesn’t want to say projections because that’s boring 🤔

It’s does seem vague, maybe @wdwmagic can clarify, but I’m pretty sure the boreing projection pic they used says it all what this will be and it’s not a castle full of twinkling lights.
