Wow and we were just talking the other day about going in with our son to see it this year in NYC. What a happy coincidence that will be...:sohappy: :sohappy:

This float sounds awfully familiar to the one they've used countless times in previous daytime parades in the Magic Kingdom...maybe taking it out of drydock?

It does sound like a similar idea, but that I don't think that float is anywhere near 33 feet tall, 16 feet wide and 42 feet long. I don't think a float of that size would even fit down Main Street, especially with the Christmas decorations up across the street, but I just might be underestimating its size. Although if they could, it would be neat for them to somehow bring the float back to WDW after Macy's and display it somewhere on property for the holiday season.

If I remember correctly form last year, the parade is broacast over most of PA, NY, general Northeast area, VA, CA

Any other stations carring it are sporadically cast about the nation.

I'm from CT, and like I said, I've never even heard of it.

Same here.

I was just wondering, because the reason we get Mickey and co. here is because ABC co-sponsors the event. I'm curious as to what will happen this year. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I live in central NJ, and up until a couple of years ago I had never even heard of the Boscov's Thanksgiving parade or the mummers for that matter. The only reason I know about them is becuase one of my friends lives in Southern NJ. Any celebration or parade from Philly is certianly not broadcast here. Everything here is NYC.

Macy's on the otherhand is nationwide.

Similiarly - how many of you can watch the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion or Guavaween parade?

I do know one thing - the second some DL'ers get wind of this they're gonna be mad that it's all about WDW.

I already am upset about it... I just chose not to publically beat the dead horse.

Its WDW's show team making the float for the "global" event in honor of DL. Hopefully DL fans won't get all fussed up over it like they have over WDW's new commercial (which I like, but agree with their opinion of it). Then again, maybe DL was just too cheap to make a float for their own 50th and WDW had to step in? ;) j/k

If they present the float as part of the HCOE in honor of DL's 50th during the parade, it'll all be fine. Afterall, DL already created a beautiful 50th float for last year's Rose parade that was televised nationally.

F.Y.I. - I wasn't too clear on this, so I thought I would pass this along...

Guavaween - http://www.cc-events.org/gw/
Gasparilla Pirate Invasion - http://ae.tbo.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=front_event_detail&eventID=11541

Sometimes I like my local culture - once a year we give the city to invading pirates and instead of pumpkins for Halloween, we honor a fruit no one really likes, we don't grow, and throw a really drunken parade with a catchy name (Mama Guava Stumble!).

 I had to go look it up as well.

Well, I'm not sure where this thread has gone, but I guess I'll have to check out the NY parade this year (only during our parade's comercials, of course; we can't break tradition). I still wonder what will happen this year, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Wait, does ABC broadcast Macy's parade? Down here only NBC broadcasts it.

Last year, NBC signed a contract w/ Macys to be the exclusive broadcaster of the parade (and the July 4th fireworks) through 2010, but will probably keep it for the next eight billion years. This will be their 52nd year of broadcasting the parade.
