News Walt Disney World Adds Water Park Perk for 2025 Resort Guests

Anyone else think they might fly in a day earlier and stay offsite for a night to get this perk? Original plan was to fly in on a Saturday morning and not go to the park that day. New plan might be fly in Friday night. Stay at a cheap hotel near Disney World. Hit the water park around noon on "check in" day?
That seems rather complicated
How much less is that than just getting tg water park tickets?

A hotel for an extra night costs more than the perk.

It's the whole package:

Option 1: Fairfield in $120 a night then free Water park tickets on Saturday
Option 2: Disney hotel cost (call in $250?) + 2 adult water park tickets ($136) (my son is under 3 right now)

So ~$250 in savings. Savings get more extreme if you have more people in the room that would cost a waterpark ticket.

Ok…but I was thinking “two waterpark tickets for a few hours in the morning…$136”

Whatever works out best for you

I don't even have a trip planned in 2025... but I was just thinking it was something I would consider depending on group size/hotel size.

Taking it to the extreme. 4 adults staying onsite at $700 a night that fly in late on a Friday.

Option 1: $700 a night hotel (from like 9pm to 11am)+ $40 in breakfast + $272 for water park tickets= $1,012

Option 2: $120 a night hotel (with free breakfast)

~$900 in savings.

I realize there it's not quite apples to apples (having to jump hotel rooms after the water park day, nicer hotel to sleep in night of, ect.), but if I was planning to go to the waterpark on my first day it is something I would definitely consider.

I did a similar thing ~5 years ago with universal because I didn't want to pay for 1 evening at a deluxe hotel where I wasn't going to the parks.. I flew in on a Friday night, stayed at a cheap hotel for 1 night. The next morning I drove to Royal pacific, got my express passes and jumped into the park. I didn't get any "free" tickets, but I did save a few hundred dollars vs just staying overnight at Royal Pacific.

No I get you…I was just throwing out another option…

Whatever works

I can see people even using a throwaway campground reservation (if Fort Wilderness is included) since the cost of those for one night can be less than a couple of water park tickets.

Are we the only family who likes to get to the hotels early? We usually end up there at 8 or 9 am and sometimes our room is even ready.
It's impossible for us to arrive on-property before noon unless we drive (which isn't happening) or we flew in a day early and stayed elsewhere the first night. And flying in that early means we're up at 4-5am. Not exactly the way to start a vacation.

My son was thinking of possibly going down for a few days over college spring break. Was planning on flying in Saturday and hitting the parks for three days Sunday thru Tuesday before flying home Wednesday. He was planning out what to do Saturday being a no park day. Getting an earlier flight, he could be at the water park by noon. Five hours at the water park at no extra cost, seems worth the earlier flight especially for a college kid with limited funds.

I don't think I would do a day early, unless you have a very long travel day so that first day is sort of "lost" anyway

I can see booking the flight that gets in a couple of hours earlier - so the 10am flight that gets in at 1pm instead of the noon flight that gets in at 3pm

Figure even 3-4 hours at the water park is worth it as a "bonus"

With a high of 62 Saturday it may not be a water park day.....

We did that last year, to avoid paying high rates for the first night.

But that solely because of flight times from the UK.

I’d definitely do that again. Cheap room, free breakfast and we were at OKW by 10am.

Just booked a trip for early June.

Since we typically drive down, we'll load up the Navigator and drive overnight from Ohio to Jacksonville to spend that day with my in-laws, sleep that night at their place, and then head to WDW early the next morning to check-in at Coronado before heading to one of the water parks.

This specific perk is much more marketable than it is executable, but it works just fine for us.

Yeah, I don't think a lot of people will go the cheap one-night hotel route just for the waterpark pass. However, I could see it tipping people that were already considering it. It's always frustrating to me when I fly in somewhere and get there after ~7pm but still have to pay for the whole day (I know this is the only way a hotel can operate, it's just frustrating).

I feel this one line sums the entire "free water park day" thing up quite nicely.

Great thing to advertise. But, it leaves out so many people, particularly for at least 4-5 months a year when the only open water park closes at 6pm and many don't arrive in time to use it. Hell, TL closed at 6pm in September and that's not even a winter month.

And I'm sorry but arriving a day early and spending money on an off-site hotel just to use a water park admission the next day, particularly in the winter when the temps are very unpredictable, is just silly. Unless the purpose of your trip is just to do water parks, I guess.

In many situations, it's a complete throwaway perk. If the stars align, it's a nice perk to utilize.

Maybe it's a $315 savings for family of 4 if you can use it?

Like today for instance the perk will be used by 0% since the water parks are closed. On the best day (let's say July - no storms), maybe 10% of arrivals use it? (I'll eat my words a bit if both water parks end up running simultaneously again)

Based on the actual usage, I wouldn't be shocked if the true cost for Disney to run this perk might up being less than a $1/person for the resort arrivals.

Paging @lentesta who might be able to help break some numbers down.

I hope this perk dies a hard death in 2026 and they resurrect something from the pre-covid cupboard. Or simply improving this perk would be fine - one free Water Park day during a resort-check in/check-out window.
