Well.. firstly... EPCOT no longer has a Future World.

Secondly, CoP isn't about the future. It's a long history lesson with barely a peak at the near future.

Thirdly, EPCOT already has an attraction that's a long history lesson with barely a peak at the near future. Namely, Spaceship Earth.

;)
Fourthly, Spaceship Earth and formerly Universe of Energy and World of Motion had the majority of it's content in the past despite the area being named "Future World." Never mind the fact that the whole first half of Horizons was about what people in the past thought the future would be like and Imagination really didn't fit neatly into any time period.

That wasn't lost on me, even as a child...but...for at least the first few years the whole area still felt "futuristic," plus, in addition to what you mentioned, "agriculture of the future" in the Land, Communicore, and the format of The Living Seas....yeah....dropping the "Future World" makes relative sense for the 2020s, especially given what the area's become....

I think it's very appropriate that the new sign on the Seas pavilion says "Aquarium" on it because it is very descriptive that we are no longer pretending you are going to a seabase on the ocean floor. You are literally just walking into a lightly Finding Nemo-themed aquarium. Nothing special, Nothing futuristic. Just an aquarium.

The, at worst, "tied for first place" most convincing effect Disney ever had on me as a child were those hydrolators. I was really convinced we were in DEEEEEP. And all achieved with 2 most-simple effects (a rocky feature scrolling along the small windows and shaking the floor). That's real "magic" imo. Proof that Disney doesn't have to go "over the top" to enchant. Just some creativity "out of the box."🏆

This! I was convinced we were going to the bottom of the sea. Sad they ditched it
