MK Walt Disney to Appear in Carousel of Progress with New Audio-Animatronic at Magic Kingdom

I was being a bit silly, based on the fact that there were post-shows on an upper level of the attraction at both the ‘64-‘65 World’s Fair and the Disneyland versions - “Skydome Spectacular” and “Progress City”, respectively.
There is no (publicly) accessible upper level at MK.
But it made me curious because the building is two stories tall, so what is up there? Or is it just an attic.

I’ve never purchased LL in my life but wouldn’t even look at the price if they updated the end to include a speed ramp to the upper lounge that leaned into mid century retro futurism and let you sit in luxurious recliners while watching an accurate recreation of Horizons on an Apple Vision device.

Yes, indeed…!!!
I was in architecture for over 42 years (I retired last year), mostly designing high-end custom homes, and mid-century modern is my favorite style. Requests for MCM designs were, essentially, non-existent during the earlier decades of my career, but in the last 10 years or so there were plenty (updated a bit, of course).
And, I could definitely go for that Apple Vision Horizons idea…!!! :)

Also, for anyone interested regarding the original Progress City model…

MCM has always been my favorite. I grew up in South Florida, where virtually everything seemed 2b MCM. As far back as I have memories I always delighted in it even though it was everywhere. The last few decades, sadly, the attitude has been "we can't tear it down fast enough!" and its getting harder and harder to locate, nm enjoy. It was my favorite part of 1971 Tomorrowland.

Yep, MCM homes used to get razed regularly around here, as well. These days, many folks are either refurbing and/or adding on to them, or building them anew.
The first pic below is one the firm I worked for designed (myself and one of the partners), and the second pic is of one of my MCM faves from Palm Springs, CA back in the day…!!! :)

The (abbreviated) PC model isn't in CoP builuding...but in "Stitch" building if I'm not mistaken. You just ride along the outer perimeter of CoP building in Peoplemover....

Late response…I was in the car going to pick up our youngest daughter’s dog.
Yes, thanks for the correction. Total brain fart on my part….!!! 🤪
I’ve been on that attraction enough times, and have seen it in so many live streams, etc. to know better.
It’s near the beginning when you first go under cover.
I’ll just blame it on “old timers” disease…!!! ;)

After all, Horizons was considered the "sequel" to CoP
I’m so excited for this update.

But - Armchair Imaginnering here - but I have long felt that COP could move to EPCOT to replace WOL. Especially after PLAY got canceled. Seems like now is a perfect time to do it. Would free up the MK space for another attraction. Or even a theater for live shows like this MK land used to have.

doubtful...but WoL building needs SOMETHING done. It's essentially 3 large empty showbuildings gathering dust as far as we know. CoP building is perfectly suited for its attraction, and I'm still thrilled with Walt news, if for no other reason, because the attraction will be preserved into the foreseeable future. They briefly indicated in a 1991 display that something else would go into the building as part of "New Tomorrowland," but CoP refurb ended up being part of New Tomorrowland.

....also....that former space of the open Tomorrowland Theater (that was supposed to become an enclosed Main Street theater) is still available ...just being used as a glorified parking lot....so maybe one day they'll re-open that space for a live entertainment venue?

Tbh, I think it fits tommorrowland better and Tomorrowland already has quite a few things that could be work on first that would make it much better than trying to move what I believe to be a pretty old and complicated ride system.

If anything from MK should move to Epcot, imo it should 100% be Small World replacing what is currently the Odysessy plot + part of the surrounding lake with a beauitful outdoor Mary Blair styled garden connecting it towards the Journey Into Imagination Pavillion.

Then MK can focus on a new Fantasyland dark ride, Tomorrowland stuff to replace Stitch, Speedway, and Monsters since we really dont need another closure in TL

Well.. firstly... EPCOT no longer has a Future World.

Secondly, CoP isn't about the future. It's a long history lesson with barely a peak at the near future.

Thirdly, EPCOT already has an attraction that's a long history lesson with barely a peak at the near future. Namely, Spaceship Earth.

If I had to choose between changing the ending of SSE or doing anything to WoL building, it'd choose the former:D

Before Inside Out existed, I would agree with you.

Oh it's not glorified....it is literally just a parking lot.....lol
