Rethemes are my biggest concern, but I mean at this point, what would they even retheme? All the attractions on property now kinda feel irreplacable. Maybe Kali River Rapids? I know that one is pretty lame.
Imagination, Wonders of Life, Rock N Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Muppets, essentially everything in Tomorrowland (with the exception of Tron), Spaceship Earth. Space Mountain has been rumored to need a complete track replacing for a while now... that's not going to be cheap...

With the announcement of new AP sales maybe this will no longer an issue but… I really wonder how big of a deal this is. IOW do most DVC members get or use APs? I really have no idea but we’ve never been “go every year” (or multiple times a year) people so we’ve never had APs even being DVCers

many dvc members go multiple times within a year... some do short trips, some long trips, and not all go to the parks every day, or at all some days, but having that flexibility to go whenever withing having to buy a day ticket is pretty key

Absolutely. I guess I’m just curious from like an academic standpoint. Like is it 80 or 90% of DVC members that get APs regularly or more like 50% or a minority like 20-30%. I’m sure it’s a substantial number but I’ve just been curious if it’s a widespread perk that is frequently used or just something that is big for a certain segment of owners.

I’m sure though for the DVC people who go frequently it is a huge deal and not having it available has lead to a lot of complaints
I doubt it’s 80-90%

Probably more like 50? If that?

But what this “announcement” doesn’t solve for dvc is that they are trying to sell in a window.

Many dvc - and I being one of them recent years - would rotate years on passes. Because honestly I’ve held up my end of the bargain and I may want to do other things. But we always come back and dump the cash.

Reading between the lines…That isn’t an option anymore. I can’t get tickets to fit my schedule without a huge “pre-emptive” outlay.

I’m debating getting them…it’s been years…but each minute that passes reduces the appeal.

I’m “unique” but I doubt I’m alone

There’s probably no reasonable scenario where it will ever be “fixed”

Maybe in a mechanically necessary mass rehab - like a track replacement - they break it up and haul it out of there and do some kind of project type replacement?

I could see that…maybe
I’m amazed they haven’t taken it apart and relocated it already, it would look amazing in the queue or in a ride location they could easily access for maintenance, replace it in the tunnel with a projection or other affect that would work for the split second you actually see it.

They don’t have enough attractions for the downtime. That’s pretty much across the board

Speaking of Kali River rapids, that ride is interesting… My wife is Hindu and isn’t really offended or bothered by it, but she has always wondered why they named it what they did. She equates it to having a ride named “Jesus Christ River Rapids”. We kind of chuckle about it. I’d be down for a re-theme.

Here’s the deal. I saw the details of Chepek’s plan to overhaul EPCOT. It’s actually a good thing that much of it never panned out. The “attractions” were mostly facades, which looked good but were really cheap as far as its attractions go.

I’m confident Igor will green light worthy new additions that are imaginative and budgeted right. So, expect the kind of things Iger delivered during his previous reign as CEO, such as Galaxy’s Edge, Pandora, and Gardians.
You do understand chapek was never in charge during any construction, right?

They haven’t started anything in 5 years. And that’s on IGER…actually

Tub boats are actually pretty obselete…so the better move would be to yank it and be done with it

Disagree on Star Tours and Muppets, though relocating Muppets might make sense. Also, Wonders of Life has been out of use for so long as to be considered new capacity at this point.

No…it was lost capacity when the complex’s annual attendance was 10,000,000 less annually

…and therein lies the main problem

There was a guy who used to work for Disney who insisted on rethemes to justify maintenance costs when it was needed…

Can’t remember his name, but I found his picture:

IgER said that there will be no more expansion to EPCOT for the forseeable future 🤷.

Too bad some of you weren’t alive during the Eisner era...best CEO ever. Actually was creative and cared about Walt’s legacy…

Eisner will be redeemed more and more as Iger fails.

Now did he stay too long? Absolutely. But took a little cornerlot studio and turned it into a conglomerate. But had flaws.

At least he never CAME BACK after staying too long 🤪
