Wall-E movie is amazing

Well, movies don't win purely because of their box-office intake. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the Dark Knight get nominated and possibly win. But there's always going to be those art movies with limited releases that could steal the prize.

The slew of films that are always best picture contenders, that are usually released in December long after everyone has forgotten about the summer films, will make it virtually impossible for both Knight and Wall*E to be nominated (unless that crop is unusually sorry this year).

Also, I've said before that I doubt Wall*E will get nominated because of the separate animation category. So my money is on only Knight getting nominated, or neither.

Can't wait to see Dark Knight. It does look like something special.

Just got back from Dark Knight. Enjoyed it immensely, but I can't imagine a Batman flick getting Best Picture. I'd be slightly surprised if it was even nominated, to be honest. As good as it was, it just doesn't strike me as being the kind of movie that would win Best Pic, based on how the Oscars usually play out.

Saw Wall-E today....I felt like I was on Spaceship Earth at Epcot: Space, soft music, A/C, dark and yes I found myself nodding off at times

yes it was a good movie, but hearing Batman playing next door, that might have been a better choice.

Look at Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon though, it was nominated for both best foreign film and best picture. So its not impossible really.

Projections are that DK has a really good chance of smashing weekend records. With its popularity and the Heath Ledger factor, it has an excellent chance of not only being nominated, but winning.

You might have something here. I'm sure the Academy thinks it's about time for another Titanic, given how dismal ratings have been the last several years with pictures nominated that no one cares about.
