Trip Report Waddling Around the World - 28 weeks pregnant, F&W Fall '18

This is probably going to be the most boring trip report because 1. I didn't take notes and 2. I didn't take nearly as many pictures as normal.

I will say that overall this wasn't one of my favorite trips, but we still had fun, so I wanted to share anyway. Plus I enjoy just documenting what we did (or what I remember that we did...)

When: October 11-16
Where: Split stay between Wilderness Lodge and Villas at the Grand Floridian
Why: Anniversary and sort of a babymoon, even though this was planned and the baby wasn't :hilarious:
Who: Me and my husband R (other reports linked in my signature)...and the unborn child, on her 3rd trip.

----------------

Our morning on the 11th began at 3am when I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. Rather than lay there until my alarm went off at 3:30am :cautious:...I got up and started getting ready. R did the same and we made it out of the house around 4:10am.

We got to the airport with no issues and security was quick. Memphis was more crowded that normal, meaning there were 10 people instead of 2. :hilarious: Actually our flight was full, so it was a pretty crowded gate area.

Ready to go with my $5 water! I don't know why I do this...

Our flight was smooth and we landed on time around 10am. I think we were pulling away in our Magical Express around 10:30, and Wilderness Lodge was our first stop!

When we arrived, we headed to the bathrooms and changed clothes. Then we checked our bags with bell services and headed to the bus stop.

I was so thrilled to be back here! Wish our room had been ready early, but we had bad luck with that this time.

Two tired souls waiting on their bus. This picture was from my camera...

Can't see!

These are from my phone... I realized then I was probably going to be using my phone more. I upgraded to the X, and it's so much better than my old one! Plus I rented a lens for this trip and it was too big. I hated carrying it around! I will definitely stick with my compact lens next time.

We sat at the bus stop forever, and finally a bus for Epcot came. This would be the first of many times we waited quite a while for a bus while staying at WL :cautious: I should have taken notes so I could really share the ridiculousness with you guys. I remember this being an issue last time as well, but R didn't remember that. He will definitely remember this time! The bus situation kind of spoiled WL a little for us.

Up Next: First things first, food!

Oh that dog!!!! I like NY strips better than Filets... so I would have been really upset! Sorry about your crappy waiter.... at least your food looks tasty!
I can't decide which I like better! They're so different, but I was feeling strips that night, and I'm glad since that money just went right down the dog's throat :hilarious:

I just realized you said “she” in your posts - I must have been stuck on your Woody reveal and assumed you were expecting a boy 😉
Haha yeah it's a girl! We just used the Woody doll because that's our last name

Omg the dog!! Glad you got that re-do!
I have never heard of a sous-vide! I had to google and check it out. Interesting!
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. :)
He's such a butt hole sometimes, but we love him to death. Can't stay mad at him too long! I had to look it up too when he started talking about it. It's REALLY awesome for meat. Get's them evenly cooked and keeps it juicy.

I loved reading your report!

We were debating the other day whether it's easier to go with a newborn, or wait a bit until a kid gets a bit older (like 1-2, not 12 lol). In one way, a newborn can be easier as they will probably sleep more and you don't have to worry about actual naps yet or an earlier bed time. At the same time, it is something to get used to, and a trip could throw off any schedules or routines you get used. We decided we're going to wait a bit, but that's because I want our oldest to be out of a stroller as I really don't want to deal with a double stroller. Good luck on your decision!
Yeah the routine thing is one thing I'm wondering about! I don't want to disrupt her too bad. Hopefully if we do go when she's around 3 months, we can maintain somewhat of a routine while we're there, at least with feeding times and whatnot.

Would getting a “I met Tuvalu at WDW” card tip the scales in your favor with R for an early April vacay? 😉😂
Hahaha maybe! How early in April are you going? I'm due to start back to work the 3rd, but I'll probably push it back to the following monday.

Sorry, you didn't get to eat your steaks, but I had to laugh over the dog!! :hilarious: I have a dog, too, and you wouldn't believe the amount of food and drinks he has absconded with, over the past 10 years. Just when I think I have everything out of his reach, he'll come up with a new way of "finding" food and running with it!

Dogs are drawn like a magnet to crimes of (food) opportunity! ;)
It is funny to us now, and still baffling. We have a beagle and he will do ANYTHING for some food. We try so hard to keep things out of his reach, but he still finds a way. He has gotten into a few dangerous things over the years, but luckily hasn't had anything hurt him yet.

Great TR!! You have me convinced that I need to spend more time at F&W. I never seem to devote enough time to it!! Also, great photos(as always)!! Wishing you & R all the best with your baby!!
We LOVE F&W and F&G (which is why I want to go in the spring). Sampling all the different food is a huge draw for us.

Thank you all for the kind comments and well wishes! I ended up booking us a room yesterday for the very end of my maternity leave, but with the understanding that we may cancel it if we don't feel up to it. The great thing about Disney is you can cancel with no penalty up until pretty close to the trip! Now I have to decide if it's worth booking flights yet. The flights are at a great price right now, and I'm afraid to lose the price or have the non-stops sell out, so we'll see. With Southwest, if I cancel, we get credit for the amount that we could then use in Oct, so it may be worth it to secure the fare.

I'll keep y'all updated!

I've never had a dog steal food from the kitchen but we did have a dog named, Kali, that once stole my sandwich. I had just made myself a sandwich with a side of my fav chips. My husband chose that moment to call and ask me to look up something for him. I put the plate on the table in the living room and went upstairs. I wasn't even gone a minute. I came back down the stairs and was like "where is my sandwich?!" The plate hadn't been moved and not one crumb remained. I looked over at Kali and she was pretending to be asleep on the sofa across the room. I asked her if she took my food and she had the guiltiest look on her face. I was so mad because that was the last of the bread too :banghead:

If R wants to go to Disney in August and I can convince P, we can have a Magic Forum Baby Meetup! Lol

YES! Do this!!!!!!!

Your life doesn't have to come to a screening halt when you have a baby. Your priorities change, and you have less flexibility and spontaneity, but you'll find a balance.

I was never brave enough to take a baby to Disney, but I wish I had! They're free until they're 3!!!

Best wishes to the two (soon to be three) of you!

Great report thanks for all the detailed food posts from F&W it's really helpful that you do this. Hopefully you can convince R on the baby trip you have already slowed things down a lot on this trip so that aspect wouldn't be to different. Good luck with the coming months and keep us updated.

Finally have a second to post an update for you guys! Meet Liliana Pearl, probably to be referred to as LP on here. She was born on Jan 15 at 8:30am and we're all doing well! She's finally letting me sleep a little at night, and I'm crossing my fingers she keeps it up. I've been catching up on trip reports during our nighttime feedings, and it's kept me sane :p

Hope everyone is doing well! We are planning a trip for the very end of my maternity leave late March/early April, so hopefully that works out! I think R is ready to go back too, so we're going to tackle the world with a 12 week old! Since we let our APs expire, this one is going to be so expensive :cautious: but we'll upgrade to APs again when we get there so we won't have to buy tickets in Oct. I miss being an AP! Mainly for the room discounts :hilarious:

Ok done rambling...here's some pictures of LP a whole 6 hours fresh :inlove::inlove::inlove: We're having some photos taken at home this weekend, so I'll post a few of those as well.
