Vote for the WDW 2014 Logo...

That 3rd logo looks like it's brought to us by the same minds that put those ridiculously busy/crowded and can't-wear-outside-of-WDW-without-shame Ts in the shops. Simplicity = good design.

I'm no expert graphic designer but if I had Disney's logo templates, I could finish logos 2/3 before lunch. The castle is the only one that's even remotely artistic and at least seems to draw from IASW. Did they really pay someone to do these?

The MMXIV is pretty bad as well. The colors are not evenly spread out. I also get that each roman numeral is one of the fab 5, except somehow Pluto was dropped in favor of a generic castle.

FYI, the "I" actually looks like Pluto's nose if looking at it straight on, i don' think it was dropped in favor of a castle. That being said, i wish this execution was better, b/c i think its a good idea.

I agree with most sentiments that the 3rd must be a joke, right?

I'm not a designer and as bad as these are..this is way better than I could do. However, one simple issue I have is why there are repeat rides between the '1' and '4' in the third concept. It's like Disney doesn't have enough attractions to fill in the logo?

Since about 2000, the annual logos have been just the year in Arabic numerals with the Fab 5 wrapped around them in some way. So these crummy attempts are intended to replace that approach? Actually, we've always bought some annual merch, because they trigger memories of specific trips -- but these? Yuck. Do our school systems even teach Roman numerals any more? They've stopped teaching cursive writing from what I hear. These are all bad enough to break our family tradition of year-specific souvenirs.

Everyone take a deep breath.;)

From this article at OTPN:

According to Disney, "the winning design chosen will be revealed in an exciting announcement towards the end of this year, and will be featured on select limited-edition merchandise within the new dated art program that will only be available at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in 2014."

I think it is pretty obvious what they did. They already decided #1 would be their logo for 2014, so they actively put up two hideous options... knowing they had no chance to win. It's a false "choice" by fans. Disney already knew which would win, but they can market it as "the fans picked the logo, how cool is that!?"
Well of course they have it picked out already, they need to send it overseas to be printed on cheap t-shirts from China.:D
