So there's this site up called VMK Unleashed and from what all i've heard they've got all the rights to all the VMK stuff. Supposedly they are bringing it back in Spring 2009. I just wanted to throw this out there because i know there was a lot of people on here that play VMK.

VMK is dead.

No, there's no goin' back.

Thats what I heard. It was so fun when it first premiered. But it got boring. I remember going back after a long absence, and there was so much new and fun to discover that it got fun all over again. I really hate that they just got rid of it like that. From what I heard it was simply for promotional purposes. And thats fine, but then they should have canned it long before it got all those new features. Im sure a lot of players spent a lot of time on there making friends and trying to do those quests. So for them to keep adding to it knowing they were gonna pull the plug was stupid.

Sorry to pop your WWYC ballon, but it is not coming back. Disney never owned VMK tech, they hired a company to make it for them. Disney felt they had run it course for VMK and with no money making from it they pulled the plug. It was fun for a little bit here or there, but overall it became a "I have better stuff then you so trade with me" site. VMK is dead!

The only thing about it ending that even in the slightest bit bothered me, was that you could trade in Disney Movie Reward points for things in the game.

For the people that "spent" their points for things in the game, and then to just ahve it shut down was a bit of a downer.

Lucky for me, I never spent any Rewards Points on VMK (or for that matter anything else yet)

From what I understand, they DO NOT have the rights, but are going ahead and recreating the game. Then they will ask permission from Disney.

They said if Disney turns them down then it will not be released to the public.

Kind of a stupid move if you ask me!

wow sounds idiotic, i think before creating the game than they need to ask for permission. just sounds like a dumb move on their part, cause they are gonna spend hundreds of hours creating it and than if disney turns them down than it was just a big waste of time

Oh, I can assure you that it was copywrited.

Disney copywrites EVERYTHING.

Even stuff they NEVER use.

Vmk is closed, but your info is wrong!

Sorry to pop your WWYC ballon, but it is not coming back. Disney never owned VMK tech, they hired a company to make it for them. As you've said VMK isn't owned by Disney but a company that Disney hired.

#1.) As what you have said WAS true but after, Disney bought VMK from the company, SULAKE, but didn't patent any of the stuff they used for VMK, therefore VMK Unleahed is the legal resurrection of the Disney's version of VMK and was approved by Disney itself.

#2.) VMK Unleashed is perfectly safe with what they are making even though if and only if VMK was copyrighted. These are proved by the stuff they offer in the game and the game's name.

Ex:

VMK/ Vitual Magic Kingdom = VMKU/ Virtual Magic Kingdom Unleashed

The products' name sold in VMKU are changed including the lands' names.

#3.) VMK isn't a rich competition in which they discriminate players based on their fortune. One thing that takes care of this is something they call "VMK VALUES." This is a set of rules that is given to the players which they must follow to stay in the game.

The Following Is The Exact VMK Values As It Was Written In The VMK Site.

You Must NOT:

1. Use ANY hacking, scripting or editing program that modifies VMK or changes the game. (This includes the use of code generation tools.)
2. Steal from or Scam another Player.
3. Discuss/describe sexual acts to other Players.
4. Create or open any type of 'relationship' rooms. (This includes, but is not limited to, rooms that include words like 'meet,' 'pick,' 'get,' 'find,' 'have,' or 'taken' in the title).
5. Create or open any type of 'Pay to Play' room. (This is a room where you pay the room owner to play a game and it's up to the room owner to award the prize. Charging for ANY type of activity is AGAINST VMK Values and will get you banned.)
6. Harass or bother players that don't want to talk to you.
7. Swear, use foul language or racist terms.
8.Discuss/describe violent acts against yourself or other players.
9. Discuss/describe adult themes or subject matter.
10. Ask for or give out ANY personal information to another player. (This includes your password, e-mail address, telephone number, location, or other means of contact or personal information.)
11. Type your password anywhere except in the Disney registration and log-in pages, or in the Contact Us section.
12. Give away, trade or sell your VMK Character.
13. Break the law in the game or talk others into breaking it.

You Should:

1. Have fun!
2. Hang out with your friends.
3. Chat with new people.
4. Respect other people's views and beliefs.
5. Treat other players with respect.
6. NEVER share your VMK user name, password or login information with another player.

So, back to my point, VMK is closed BUT a new one is coming back.

Not to beat this all but dead horse, but the VMK unleashed website says something new is coming "we'll be back March 4." So who knows?

VMKUnleashed won't happen, as stated on the website:
It turns out that Mac is right and I need to open up. VMKU is in development, but at a successful walk state where you can walk around the game and trade and use credits as well as have an inventory and chat to people... VMKU is not developing at the speed it needs to develope, and Disney did write back to me, and they gave me a solid *NO*...

I would love to be able to walk around the actual Disney World.

Not like a "Myst" walk around where it's a bunch of stills...but actual animation (with realistic graphics). When you hop on an attraction, it's not a game...but a first person view of the attraction. While on it, you have the ability to move the view around. Maybe within the actual attraction, you could find Hidden Mickey's and collect them.

Also, don't just limit it to the Magic Kingdom. Make it a whole world. Visit the hotels, hop on the monorail, etc. Watch Illuminations and Fantasmic...

Also, have an option of putting in the time of year that you're going. Maybe not show the crowds, but show average wait times...and fastpass times. This could give you a plan of attack during your real visit...and it could give you tips on when to eat, shop, grab a seat for the parade, etc.

As much as I agree with you, Disney already gave them a no.
