Villains Unleashed 2015?

The problem with this event is that each character can see in the vicinity of 500-600 people/groups in one night. (Assume 5 hour hard ticket event, back to back characters, 30 seconds/group).

They sold 30000 tickets.

There's your fundamental flaw right there. These characters are so rare that everyone wants to see them all.... and .0002% (or .02%, my math is fuzzy right now) of the audience gets to meet them.

So of course people are going to be ED.

I agree, it'd still be nice. They need to make something of DHS and FutureWorld in EPCOT first....

As youre astutely pointing out, they cant even take care of the parks they have..... a fifth gate is a pipe dream.

Possible with new leadership in this company but that would be a lot of culling in the middle and upper level management.

I agree, it would be cool BUT..... extremely improbably

As long as they're not planning any bait and switches for the MNSSHP, all will be good. They've announced where characters are going be and tickets are being sold. Unlike last year....

As for the Villain's Unleashed, I think you'll agree, they probably gave back more money than they ever thought was possible, so they're just gonna scrap it this year.

I like the concept of Villains Unleashed. I really do. Just operationally, its not possible right now..... because these villains are in such high demand. You give guests anything outside the mundane & the norm and they eat it up because they are desperate for anything new and different.

This is where they failed when they went to the HP last year. I was at the 2nd party, not long after they introduced the Soiree. The parade was the parade, but I was bummed about it being changed and shorter. The mix and mingle was changed to be mingle-less and then the Soiree itself took a bunch of in-demand characters out. Cruella, Facilier and Maleficent aren't like the Tremaine's and out all the time and it was a huge hit, especially when we were plotting to find where Facilier was to get in line for him at the mix and mingle. All that said, we still met Jack Sparrow, saw the parade and met Halloween talking Mickey. So I can only hope for this year's guests, they don't do anything like last year.

Where did they announce the character locations for this year? I didn't see anything on the parks blog or the official event page. What did I miss?

And starting the 2 rarest characters at 9pm didn't help the cause either. 3 sets are not enough for a one time appearance. They also cut lines way earlier than needed.

It will be interesting to see who they might bring this year.

I'd honestly be surprised if this happened this year. In theory, we will start getting announcements as to whats in the works for DHS, and once that happens, construction walls will go up, which I think would make it hard to maintain an event as over-sold as this one gets. Plus. let us not forget that although I personally LOVED the entertainment offerings (specifically oogie boogies sideshow), they got massive complaints and offered a lot of refunds.

No. Pretty sure this fizzled.

Due to lack of planning on WDW's part unfortunately, This was the WORST hard ticket event I've ever been to and the line up and get picture with character was a bad thing, Characters should have been roaming. DW wanted a shirt and turns out they were all sold BEFORE THE EVENT OPENED OFFICIALLY, She was some P---ed after waiting in line for 90 minutes.

Fireworks were absolutely awe inspriring some of the best I've ever seen at Disney and Hades was a pretty d--n good MC.

I know this is somewhat Off Topic, but what about the VSS for the MNSSHP? There's no mention of that for this year either, as well as they have given specific locations for certain villains...

The wife said VSS is a no go for us this year, its ends too late. While the SWAG,charater interactions, and specialty desserts were great... getting on the last monorail after wandering down an empty mainstreet at o' dark thirty just isn't us anymore... we'll take a dinner at the Baothouse instead.

Maybe my boyfriend and I are in the minority but we had a decent time at villains unleashed.. could it have been hanhandled better absolutely but they learned from the previous year and I believe they would learn from last year even more.. as for the oogie boogie show loved it and it had a warning out front if people didnt heed the warning thats their own fault for not reading it

As it stands right now, there is NOT a VSS lined up for this year. So it's good you weren't planning on going to it.

What a hot mess.

Couldn't they turnover Fairy Tale Hall with a quick overlay/lighting effects and have it be "taken over by the villains" and call it "Scary Tale Hall" (credit @DaBears81 for that name idea), for M&G during Villians Unleashed?

Don't they have 4-6 rooms in there where guests don't cross paths so they can have 2 of the same in-demand characters in different rooms at the same time so guests get a chance to meet at least one or two Villians in a M&G? Seriously, some mood music, clever lighting and some topical overlay/signage to put up between the day/night event wouldn't be that hard or expensive - would it?

Either you:

1. Sell a hard ticket and deliver (like Mickey's NNS Halloween or Christmas)

2. Learn from your mistakes and deliver a better event the next year

or

3. You don't do it at all.

From the descriptions of last year's event, I don't get how they can put something out so watered down and cheap and try to up charge for schmutz.

Well, first that means moving it from DHS over to MK. The whole point was to have it at DHS.

So i think that whole "Scary Tale Hall" seems more like a MNSSHP idea... but then where do you put the princesses & their men?

Ive heard that a lot. I'm hearing that the vocal complaints were the minority.... of course some of those complainers were the blog-o-sphere and their followers ran with it.

I wasn't there; i had no intention to spend $80 for that.

Since they're already selling Halloween and Christmas party tickets, I think it's safe to say that if there were beinging this event back, we'd known by now.

That could still change, but has there even been a rumour from anyone of it returning this August/Fall?

My bad - I was thinking it was at MK for some reason... So they could just use a soundstage or an unused building and convert it into this for the event. DHS has a few (or a couple) vacant sound stages, I think? Modular walls, overlays, lighting, signage.
