Videotaping the varioius attactions in WDW...some questions!

Just saw your follow-up; if that WAS a joke, then disregard what I said. I didn't really pick up any sarcasm from your post; it looked pretty straightforward to me.

I don't consider spoiling a person's vacation a laughing matter. Most people save for MONTHS for their trip. To expect them to stand back in line and go through an attraction AGAIN just because you don't care? They are there to have fun as well!!!

And turkey leg boy, I hope you get your a** kicked next time you tell a cast member somebody taped something. As long as it isn't somebody like DisJosh spoiling it for everybody, what do you care if somebody wants to tape a ride to preserve the memory of their trip?

I guess I didn't make that part clear, but I won't say anything to a CM if it doesn't bother my experience.

I've been on several rides/shows that say no video taping with someone right in front of me that bothers my enjoyment. If that happens, that's when I'll say something to a CM.

If someone wants to kick my @$$, let them. I'll press charges, I'm not afraid. That will really ruin their vacation.

Turkey leg boy, thanks for clearing that up. I agree with you that if somebody is ruining it for other people, something should be done about it. But if they're not hurting anybody, live and let live, I say.

No external lighting and close your stupid viewing screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes the comment was intended to be sarcastic but sarcasm usually doesnt read well in type.

I don't go into the parks intending to ruin someones vacation. Nor do I believe I ever have. I have a hard time seeing how my taping an attraction would ruin someones experience. Provided I don't have a big spot light on my camera, I'm not bothering anyone. If I tape in night vision so I can see all the secrets thats my business. SO long as I'm in my personal space doing my own thing, why should you or anyone be bothered?

It sound to me like we are all finally on the same page here.

As long as somebody isn't bothering the other guests on the ride, tape away. Don't use external lighting and keep your viewing screen closed (emit too much light).

And if you get good ones, make sure you post them to popkid's server so the rest of us can enjoy them too!

We were on the same page the whole time we just didn't know it. Or maybe I just skimmed over all the posts rather than reading them before I typed. We'll never know now though, will we? :lookaroun

I agree with you 100%; if your taping a ride doesn't interfere with anyone else's experience, then I couldn't really care less that you're "breaking a rule." Tape away, sir.

Yeah, too bad about that. :)

I was just reading through the whole thread earlier and started thinking, "Jeez, people!" Nutcases are flying airplanes into buildings and we're berating folks for carrying camcorders onto Pirates of the Caribbean. Time to step back and take a breath.

Hey hey hey!!! LOL...Wow I'm sorry to have started getting everyone in this arguement. Let's just forget I asked about filming on rides, LOL. I would never break any rules, that's why I asked myself! So basically other than those listed, I can tape all the rest?

Thanks everyone

Mike

It's not an argument, just a little debate. ;)

As far as taping the rest, if they don't say you can't, go ahead.

One question remains though... What happens if you do get caught? Anybody here get caught or know somebody who has? What CAN they do?

The one ride I did tape, (Star Tours), I tried to duck out the back real quick. Just in case.:D

Another reason certain shows and attractions have "No Taping" rules is because they either are copyrighted works or feature copyrighted media. If I'm not mistaken, that's one reason why they discourage it in American Adventure.

Add Back to the Future and T2-3D to the rides at US they tell you you can't tape. Also Spiderman from IOA. I forgot about those. There may be others, but those are the rides I went on I remember an announcement about no taping.

On CBJ I opened up the LCD screen. I have no idea what I was thinking in doing this, my dad told me to close it because of other people and I have not done it since.

Let's not forget that taping any of these 3D attractions would effectively be useless. All you'd get would be a blurred mess, unless of course you put one of the lenses from your 3d glasses over the camera lens.

that's a greedy, selfish statement to make. There are people out there that save up their whole lives to go to WDW once. So they will do everything.. once. Don't ruin it for them, especially since you are in a position to return to the parks in another 2 years (you said it yourself!).

And pleeeeeaaaaaaaase!! A paying customer escorted from a park for taping an attraction! Scare tactics don't work guys, we all know that doesn't happen. Disney would never risk losing a paying customer over such a petty ofense. I could perhaps see them confiscating a tape...only then to be replaced for free.

wanna bet? I've escorted a guest out of the park for more petty (but equally obnoxious) offences before.

I realize some of you guys posting here are Disney employees. You're trained to do your job and part of that enatils enforcing the rules. But put your self in my shoes...I'm lucky if I get to WDW once every 2 years. I want to take my experience home in a perminat form so I can bore guest when they come over!!!

I do see things from your perspective, but when it ruins someone else vacation, then that's where I draw the line.
