Ahhh.... I don't know if I have enough willpower to skip this video. It's basically the only thing I've tried to avoid in all the FLE posts up until now.

Don't mind if I do...

VERDICT: The queue area is lovely and the Scuttle AA in the middle of the queue will alleviate some of the boredom when it comes to waiting in line, as well as just looking at the details of queue. The waterfalls look very pretty and add a nice touch. Very immersive. Was impressed.

The ride itself...well, it, as has been reported, is pretty much a carbon copy of the ride in DL. It's by no means a terrible ride, and I'm sure I'd enjoy it just fine if I rode it, but the same issues I had with it before are still there (namely, the ending). They did make it so the little cardboard Ursula in her "dying scene" is a little more prevalent. She moves more so it's a bit more noticeable, I think. Think if they'd enhanced the ride with one more scene depicting more of those exciting final minutes in the movie (in both versions of the ride), it would have addressed my problems with the ending. Recycled AAs from the Under the Sea scene are used in the ending but that's something I can get over even if I wish and think they should have created unique ones. And I still am not the hugest fan of the Ariel/Eric silhouettes with the heart effect towards the ending too. Just think it looks a bit like they decided to go cheap in the ride design.

Overall, a cute dark ride with some design and story flaws that does fit well with the theming of the land it's in.

Thanks for the video. I had the opportunity to ride DCA's version earlier this year and enjoyed it. It's hard to tell from a video, but it did seem like there were a few very minor tweaks on the ride. It may just be the video, but the lighting in Under the Sea seems a little less harsh and the wave things on the ceiling seem to stand out a bit better. The very MINOR tweak to Ursala's last scene helps a little and having King Triton have similar hair as the rest of the characters (i.e. rubber like material) helps him not standout as looking odd compared to the rest of the characters.

The biggest change obviously is the addition of that magnificent queue. It definetely sets the mood and I believe raises the bar of the entire experience. At DCA you practically walk from outside right onto the ride. By the time you feel immersed in the experience, the ride is over. Here, you are immersed in that environment much earlier on and I suspect makes the entire experience that much more rewarding.

It really is a great ride imo and for me is likely the all around best ride experience in Fantasyland right now.

Queue looks great, ride looks the same as DL. It looks like we got the recent updates (animated projections, no ice cream hair).

I have ridden the disneyland version .The ride itself is the same. The only thing that is different is the que. I am not as sad that it wasnt open two weeks ago . now that I have seen the video of the wdw one.

Eventually It will end up like the disneyland one, and the nemo ride. a straight walk through. At disneyland everytime I rode it we walked straight through the que and right on. No wait what so ever.

Ok. I couldn't resist. I had to watch. I am ashamed.
But
THAT is what some folks around here seem to have such hatred for? That ride? I have obviously not yet been on this myself, but from the video, I can't see anything that would get people so worked up against it. It looks to be the best of the Fantasyland dark rides, by a large margin.
I for one cannot wait to take my 2 Ariel loving daughters on this in December.

I watched the video along with my own ride-thru of the DL version and could find very little different...carbon copy. I'm not saying that's bad; it's just what it is. I enjoyed the DL version and I'll enjoy this version just as much.

My biggest problem with the ride is that the storyline seems to be "If you want something really bad, sell your voice to the evil octo-lady and you'll get what you want, the evil-octo lady will die, and you'll get your voice back. Win-win!" The part of the story that goes into why selling your voice was a bad idea in the first place and how you should consider yourself fortunate for surviving the ordeal is completely missing.

As for the queue, it's awesome. When I'm there, I *HOPE* that the line goes slow so that I have plenty of time to photograph all of the details.

I'm right there with you. Everything in my right index finger is telling me to click and watch but we plan to go in March and I really want it to be a surprise experience. Now that said, I watched a video of the DL version right after it opened but luckily I've all but forgotten the majority of it! :)

I'm going in 29 days - I'll watch the video when I get back if it's not open when we're there. It's just too close to spoil it now!!

The queue looks spectacular. It also looks INSANELY LONG. I simply can't imagine the waits for this ride will ever fill up the absolutely gigantic length of this queue.
