VIDEO - Take a ride through at Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid

The "Under the Sea" scene does look much better lit than I recall from previous ride through videos of the DCA version (I have never actually ridden it).

Those that were overly concerned about it being a relatively short ride (at 6 minutes or whatever) can rest easy. Counting the time it would take to work through that insanely long queue, it's easily a 10 minute attraction even as a walk-on. ;)

The queue looks spectacular. It also looks INSANELY LONG. I simply can't imagine the waits for this ride will ever fill up the absolutely gigantic length of this queue.

I was thinking the same thing that is one crazy long queue, and once fastpasss is turned on its going to be a mega long creeping pace of a wait through that.... The Under the sea room lighting does look so much better and darker..The exterior reminds me of 20,000 leagues a little bit with the falls and rockwork, great homage to that... I agree with a few posts back that said the exterior and queue is better than the ride, ha!.... By the way whats the point of having passholder previews if all this is going to be open already?

I really enjoyed the ride. Two things stuck out for me that I thought could've been better. The eels don't move and the cardboard Ursula at the end is meh.

The scuttle in the queue talking is very cute and comparable to mr potato head at tsm although much smaller of course

I'd say - after only watching the first few minutes of the video so far - that we now have another contender for one of the best-done ride queues in WDW. Gorgeous work! I hope, though, that with this being one of those constant-loader kind of attractions, that the lines for it won't ever have to reach outside except in the busiest of seasons.

Very well done queue (though very long for a continuously loading Omni) And the ride seems to have lighting upgrades throughout the ride as well. So overall this is a very nice addition to Fantasyland but nothing that should be placed in any top 5's.

Can someone explain a "soft opening" to me? I am planning on signing up for the Passholder preview because it happens to coincide with my upcoming trip. However, I am not sure why I would do that is the land is already open to guests.

One reason is that the passholder preview will gaurentee you get to see it, which is not the case with soft opening. They could decide to close any part of the land at any moment for any reason. Also, as the moment you can't see inside BOG which I understand will be included in the passholder preview.

After seeing Mr. Potato Head in action, I fail to be impressed with any in-queue animatronic that doesn't have the ability to remove one of its own appendages.

I wonder what the 20,000 leagues under the sea tribute is...I know it's off topic but I just wonder lol
It's a formation in the rock wall that looks like one of the subs.

Don't mind if I do...

VERDICT: The queue area is lovely and the Scuttle AA in the middle of the queue will alleviate some of the boredom when it comes to waiting in line, as well as just looking at the details of queue. The waterfalls look very pretty and add a nice touch. Very immersive. Was impressed.

The ride itself...well, it, as has been reported, is pretty much a carbon copy of the ride in DL. It's by no means a terrible ride, and I'm sure I'd enjoy it just fine if I rode it, but the same issues I had with it before are still there (namely, the ending). They did make it so the little cardboard Ursula in her "dying scene" is a little more prevalent. She moves more so it's a bit more noticeable, I think. Think if they'd enhanced the ride with one more scene depicting more of those exciting final minutes in the movie (in both versions of the ride), it would have addressed my problems with the ending. Recycled AAs from the Under the Sea scene are used in the ending but that's something I can get over even if I wish and think they should have created unique ones. And I still am not the hugest fan of the Ariel/Eric silhouettes with the heart effect towards the ending too. Just think it looks a bit like they decided to go cheap in the ride design.

Overall, a cute dark ride with some design and story flaws that does fit well with the theming of the land it's in.

No sense on me posting something because you summed it up perfectly.

I love TLM, I love MK, I love Jodi Benson and I love this Mermaid land.... the queue is stunning, the ride has little differences from DCA's version (Ariel's transformation is better and Ursula moves more in the end) and I have to see Ariel's Grotto to finish my opinion... finally, I have to say that I love this ride! :)
