Ride was fine when I went, can anyone prove that video was not a joke?

Jimmy Thick-No, they won't.

Yes they will ... and if you knew anything about camera tech you would know that you can pull the metadata from the file to see when it was filmed which cannot be altered. Splash was hit or miss when we went in October last year, in the 10 days we spent at the world it seemed to have good days and bad days and was never consistent ... I see since a mod responded to your post directly confirming the video's authenticity that you have mysteriously disappeared from this forum. But please, keep on making excuses for TDO Jimmy ... you only make the rest of us look better. :D

I’m really starting to wonder how bad things will have to get before we see any positive changes at WDW.

At this point I find the whole mindset of management disappointing, if not mildly upsetting. I understand and can appreciate that Disney is a business whose top priority is to turn a profit, but there’s so much more to “Disney” than that. At least there used to be, or they kept up the illusion better in years past. I would like to think that an understanding of the “Disney philosophy” was/is a requirement to be a suit, purely on the grounds of quality control.

But then again quality doesn’t equal success and earnings in our society anymore, so maybe it just doesn’t matter from a business standpoint. If people will pay for your second best, why put your best out there? To hell with integrity! (Sarcasm )

Sorry if I sound a bit dramatic, I’m just tired of this nonsense.

This is the worst possible attitude to have. It is exactly the attitude TDO has, and that attitude is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place.

i understand that its disney, they have higher standards, and actually are about the only theme park that sticks by those standards....but you take for granted that some people only make it there once in a lifetime..and to have BTM, Dumbo, Typhoon Lagoon, and etc...all down in the same week and then throw splash mountain in...that will leave a much worse memory and maybe will turn off a generation of people in that family from the brand all together. I hate to this day that the stupid pterodactyl dinosaur doesn't fly at you anymore or that the yeti just sits and scratches his butt instead of terrifying you...i hate it..but i still enjoy it..just like i would enjoy a pizza if one piece was a little burnt...i'd just eat around it. I own disney timeshare as do many people here so i pay for excellence and i expect it..but i can live with a few hiccups along the way...some of the best times we ever had at disney where when things didn't work right and we got to see backstage stuff we'd never seen.

I'd rather have a headless robot, then have disney have to cut back somewhere on the staff to make up the profit...because despite the technology the people that work there are what make it the place that it is.

I just got back from a short trip to DLR. Did a quick stop over in LA on the way back from Maui. It's been a couple years but things are looking as good as ever. Upkeep seemed to be top notch, and the Christmas decorations at DL were amazing when compared to WDW. Haunted Mansion exterior was looking great at night with the candles.

As a Southern California Disney fan, whenever I visit WDW I always make a point of heading to Disneyland within a day or two of my arrival home. It's amazing how fresh and crisp Disneyland looks compared to the WDW parks.

DCA is a mess of Constructionland now, but you can also see a difference in that park in the areas that are no longer under construction.

It's my firm belief, and threads like this solidify it, that there's a growing chasm between the management of WDW and the management of Disneyland Resort. It's fascinating to think these two American properties are run by the same company.

And a not so quietly growing discontent of the rapid fans too...

You'd think that there would have been an infusion of Anaheim talent into WDW a few years ago. It really seems to suggest that the upper upper management doesn't see the difference. In fact, Meg Crofton technically oversees DLR now! I doubt we'll see a major shakeup at TDO before Iger leaves in 2015. Even then, no guarantee that the new guy will do any different.

You sound like WDW visits are a burden to you then if you have to run to DL right after coming home. Seems to me that it wouldn't be worth the trip across the country if you don't enjoy it enough.

One word: Epcot!

And the Disneyland visits after I get home are just a fun thing to do, not so much a "status report" on maintenance. And of course, a few years ago, I timed the flights right so I could do the whole "Both WDW and Disneyland In One Day" thing that so many of us fans do if we can. But in recent years, the differences between the two coasts are glaringly noticeable and it's something that really stands out to you.

It's really the big E Tickets where it stands out the most; Splash Mt., Pirates, Small World, etc. And then there's Peter Pan's Flight. :lookaroun

They would need someone like 60 Minutes to do a story on how the quality has eroded. Seeing as how Disney has ABC, the local media, and the social media under control, that's the only thing that would get the word out. I mean, if UV scans of hotel bedding can be a story, why not this?

I actually agree with you here. I guarantee you the moment they get put under a microscope on a grand scale we would see mass improvements. Go to the following link and flood them with a suggestion to have a segment on WDW and the lack of maintenance and care they have exhibited over the last decade! It's worth a shot...http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/feedback/fb_news_form.shtml?tag=ftr

I am truly starting to wonder if we should start hoping things get so bad, They will absolutely have to deal with the problem. I would rather not resort to that but if it's the only way.

I actually had that opportunity in late 2005. I won a grand prize trip from McDonalds for the Happiest Homecoming on Earth, and I am so glad that I chose to take a DLR vacation!

I had previously been to DL a few times, but I took my free trip in late March/early April 2006 - right in the middle of the 50th celebration. I hadn't felt that way in a Disney theme park since I was a kid. Everything felt new, crisp, and pleasantly nostalgic at the same time.

I haven't been back to DLR since, but given the choice again, I'd still choose them over WDW, easily.

I went in August of 06 and was amazed, even with the pre-refurb DCA which was a sour note but Disneyland Park completely amazed me. When I returned to WDW 2 years later it was shocking how far behind quality-wise WDW had fallen. I sometimes wish I could buy flights to Los Angeles and Disneyland tickets to every person who blindly defends WDW on here and show them what they are missing.

Unless they came completely unannounced (which is likely impossible considering Disney's stance on media and press in the parks), Disney would find some way to turn on things they hadn't had working in ages to make it seem like they are keeping things up.

They do the same thing whenever execs come to town. The truth is that the execs are probably well aware of how bad things are. It's easier to turn a blind eye to it though when they pretty everything up for your brief property tours.
