Bad Service

Post from Aurora:

Not only did we get a strange look but Mr. Albert made a comment loud enough for the other tables around us to hear- They will not be having wine with their meal and made a display of taking our wine glasses off our table....

Thats really too bad. I have been there on each trip and really loved the fact that when we were in our mid 20's they treated us like any other guest. It shouldnt matter if you drink or not, everyone should get the same experience.

I was hoping to get the Chef's table this time around, called 9 months in advance and it was already booked. :( Maybe next year.

I'm not saying it's like that for everyone, but our experience with eating there made us never want to go back.

Oh man that's horrible. I can definately understand feeling like people were looking at you with that comment. Hopefully they were just looking at the rude waiter though.

Are we sure he wasn't just making sure the rest of the serving staff for your table knew the situation? The serving staff at V&A are some of the most highly trained there is, so I really can't imagine taking such a dig at someone - especially when it's really not that unusual to not have wine with dinner. The service is very formal though, so if you go in feeling uncomfortable at fancy restaurants to begin with, you'll probably be moreso at V&A.

I don't drink wine and I go to V&A every year. I have never had a problem just drinking water or soda

V and A Chef Table

First off, I am a rather picky eater so its always an adventure for me. When we go to WDW, however, I really make an effort to try a little of everything and V & A definately fits the bill there. I actually booked the Chef's table as a surprise for my wife (we were on our honeymoon). The Chef's table experience is AMAZING, even if you are not a huge fan of foo foo food, the experience alone is well worth the expense. You are seated in an alcove set towards the rear of the kitchen. You are introduced to each of the Chefs by the head chef and brought out your menu. My wife is not a drinker at all but but I had saved enough pennies to have the wine pairings and I although I am not a big drinker either I really enjoyed the experience. We were afforded our very own Victoria and Albert for the dinner and the service was EXCEPTIONAL. The menu included everything from fois gras (spelling?), cavier, to lamb. If you hang around long enough eventually even the pickiest eater would find something that is satisfying. Once the meal was done the desert chef brought around one of every desert for us to work through! Im not sure if you are stuffed as much as exhausted from eating after a few hours! At then end of the meal they provided us with personalized menus signed by the chefs and and a rose for my wife. Total cost = 400+ for the two of us, not something we will likely do again but it was truly one of my favorite WDW experiences. One side note: I lost my jacket on the way to dinner and had to use one of the loaner jackets they provided...Ugh.

Eating at V&A's was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had at Disney. I went with my parents when I was just 20. We had a very nice dinner, very elegant, and very formal. It was just like something I probably would have dreamed about when I was a child... except I was living it out in this restaurant. Our water glasses never went dry, my parents' coffee cups never were empty OR cold, the food was delectable, although my first experience with stilton cheese left me with a "bad taste" in my mouth! Since I was "underage" I never felt like I was shunned because of my age. I was treated just the same as my parents.

I can't wait to go there again, but this time with my husband. I want him to experience this. I think it would be a perfect ending to a perfect day that we'd spent with the kids in the parks... except the kids would be back at the room, fast asleep... and it's just me and him having a nice, relaxing, quiet dinner! So, yes... if you like a little formality and being treated like royalty... V&A's is your answer.

So wine comes with the expensive meal???

Can someone give me a rough estimate of the cost for 2? Would it really be over 180?

Menu Prix Fixe $100.00 per guest. May we suggest our Wine pairings $55.00 per guest.

That does not include tip.
There are also other add-ons that some are interested in....like caviar etc.
Also, French wine pairing (or is it world wines) is more expensive than domestic.

It's still well worth it! :slurp:

Well, it IS a five star restaurant...oh well.. my bf and I would go there, but with all our other reservations... that would just be way too much. I'd rather stretch the money more.

::::dreams about V&A's::::::

Well, it's good to know going in rather than getting sticker shock later!

Save it for another special occasion down the road. There are plenty of "next tier" restaurants that you can have a great time at.
