Via Napoli

My wife and I will be eating here this summer for our trip. I know there are some official reviews out here but what do you guys think of the place?

Thanks for any advice.

We ate there for the first time last summer. I liked the physical restaurant a lot. It has a great look and atmosphere. We were a party of five and four people ordered different entrees, so we each tried a bit of all the dishes. The food was good, but nothing exceptional as far as high end Italian restaurants go. We felt the service provided by a trainee was good, but the person she was shadowing seemed indifferent that night.

I felt the prices were out of line, even for Disney and had we not been on the Dining Plan for the first time in several years, I would have been disappointed at the experience for that price. I would go again for the atmosphere, but be a little more selective about what I ordered. Hopefully you'll have a great time.

I love the pizza! My husband and I order a large Quattro Formaggi and it's plenty for us both with to share usually a piece or two left over. At $31 (ish? I forget the exact price off the top of my head) it's more expensive vs a place locally, but it's still a good value for a sitdown restaurant at Disney. (Especially when you figure a burger at Liberty Inn QS is $14.49 on it's own!) Value for money being inside the theme park is good. It's just really tasty.

I will admit it's definitely LOUD in there. And the blood orange soda is really yummy, but it's charged by the glass - no free refills. Something to keep in mind. They also will offer you fancy bottled water for a charge, but you can opt for a glass of water with lemon for free instead. They kinda push the bottled, fancy water as if it's your only option sometimes which is why I mention it.

I've posted this opinion before, but since this is a new thread, I'm happy to post again.

We thought this place was a major disappointment. We kept hearing from everyone how this was the best pizza in the world, and as total pizza fanatics, we had to try it.

Let me just let some pictures do the talking. This is a pie from our local NY pizzeria, Salvatore's, a coal fired neighborhood treasure that is constantly rated five stars on Yelp and is hands down the best pie we've ever had. I believe the below pizza has spinach, garlic, eggplant and mushroom:

Then, another night at Salvatore's, we tried tomato and ricotta - amazing -

Compare the above two pizzas to the abomination that was flung at us at Via Napoli:

That is my partner Phil staring at it with sort of a "what the hell is this" expression. I believe that would be a mushroom and "chopped tomato" pie. First, please note the topping distribution.Notice how some slices are packed with "chopped tomato" and other slices are having a serious tomato crisis. Also please note that the chopped tomato definition is technically correct, but these are just cherry tomatoes sliced in half. Now, notice that big clump of mushrooms on one slice, and then barely a mushroom at all on the rest of the pie. And if the crust looks pretty lightly browned, it was. And almost no tomato sauce at all. I asked for extra sauce, and the waitress looked at me like I had three heads, and she ran away, never to be seen again until the check was dropped at the end of the meal. The whole thing was a flavorless mess. The service was practically non-existent. We did come at about 8:30 and I think they closed at 9PM, but that's no excuse to fling toppings on an overpriced pizza so haphazardly, slam it on the table, and then disappear until it's time for me to pay the $100 check. Maybe our experience was an anomaly, but it is unlikely we would ever return there. :(

I can't remember the person who posted the pic of his peperoni pizza... Some pieces had none... It was an epic joke.... The service stinks...So loud.... And the pizza is barely at pizza hut level....

I ate there about two years ago w/ my family. Our waitress was very rude to my father and I. She had an attitude and gave us dirty looks just because my dad asked if he can charge his phone. The food is not very good either, the pizza was flabby and not cooked. AVOID WITH A CAPITAL A.V.O.I.D

I've eaten there once and I throughly enjoyed the experience. It was after my trip to Italy & the pizza I had at Via Napoli was similar to what I had in Rome. (Honestly it's as close to Italy pizza as I've ever had.) It's the type of pizza that I enjoy. However, people's idea of "good" or "great" pizza is highly subjective. Take all of the comments in this thread with a grain of salt. If you are a fan of Chicago deep dish - Via Napoli might not be the place for you. Ditto for textbook NY pizza. If you think you might be interested, give it a try. If it doesn't float your boat, lesson learned. Don't book again. If you are scared to "waste" a dining credit, maybe best to skip it. Just my 2 cents.

Did you or your dad think they were going to bring his phone in the kitchen and charge it?

We are going to give it a shot, cause we want to try and eat at all the restaurants at Epcot. I honestly have not meet a pizza I haven't like this included cheap frozen pizza. If we (my wife) don't like it we won't return. She didn't care for the germany restaurant so it now off our list :(. Thank for the all the input, all food is subjective, as I did not like Le Cellier, thought it was a waste of 2 credits, but We were glad we tried it just won't go back.

Wow - talk about yer polarizing opinions! I've had 2 meals there, and both were excellent. Both times I started with the Arancini - fried risotto balls filled with mozzarella and meat ragu. Very tasty. The main course was the margherita pizza, which I thought was really good. It was completely different from the local Pizza Hut or Domino's pizza, but still good, especially the bread.

Our experiences have differed completely from @BuddyThomas as well. We've eaten there several times, and always great service and great pizza. If they had brought the pizza out that he received, we would have sent it back for a redo. None of ours has ever looked that bad. Always a must do on every trip, and we already have our ADR for the next trip. I guess just like any restaurant, there are off days.

Thanks for all the great information. It is interesting how everyone has vastly different opinions. The best part was everything was civil unlike some other parts of this forum. We decided to give it a shot and if we don't like it will get taken off the list of places to eat.

Totally give it a shot. It may end up being great for you. :)

And why wouldn't we be civil? We're just talking about sauce and dough.

I agree, but other places out there if you disagree and it goes crazy. I teach history and I hope to one day make it to NYC area.
