I tell you what...that wide shot of the entire pavilion from across the lake looks beautiful. This is a fantastic addition to the pavilion in terms or architectural beauty!

Now I'll have to try and find my photos, because I could have sworn there was a wall back there making it an enclosed courtyard. And not just a short, blank wall, but a tall one with something on it, like false facades or something. Amazing how the memories have faded.

There was a wall back there. But it was too low to have a noticable effect on the appearance of the pavilion from outside of it. You can kind of see it in the first picture that he posted.

I'm concerned because all these pics are head on and it appears to be a 1-2ft thick facade (like the New York facades at the studio) hoping to trick the eye that it is a three dimensional building.

I hope this is not the case.
