Never having stayed there. I have a question.

We just got back from a Dinsey cruise where we got a bounceback offer for $99 per person. So I am already in the pre planning stages. Vero is only about 75 miles from Port Canaveral and I though of making a visit there before the cruise.

So How is the resort, is it more beach orientated or is it more mouse orientated, if you know what i mean. Do you feel like your on disney property or a a nice beach resort?

Thanks for any help in advance

My family loves Vero Beach. Its been a few years since I've been there but I don't think its over the top Disney. The pool is mickey shaped and there is (at least use to be) a character breakfast but I don't remember much other than that.

The resort is great, it's smaller than you might think, but that just helps the charm of it.

The pool is the main attraction outside of the beach. Like Bug said, it's in the shape of Mickey with a waterslide that's pretty fun. They do a ceremony in the mornings to open up the slide with some Disney Magic involved.

The rooms are great as well. They have full kitchens (at least ours did) and a huge tub and separate shower. The sofa also pulls out as a full sized sleeper. There are flat screen TV's with DVD players too.

They have a campfire sing along with smores at night for the entire family.

They do have rentals at the beach with surfboards, body boards, and other stuff like that.

The food is great. The beer selection could be better, but then again, can't it always! They have two main restaurants, one is pretty high in price, the other is moderate. They have a bar that serves bar food. The food area at the pool serves normal stuff like hot dogs, chicken fingers, and hamburgers.

They have a nine hole putt putt area, shuffleboard, and many other things to keep you entertained.

I have a ton of pics I can post tonight when I get home or send to you, just let me know if you're interested.

re:vero beach

My family of 4 stayed 3 days in July 2008. We really loved. It had Disney feel but you did not see alot of theming to it, so it did not feel like being @ the World. It just had the right feel for us. The beach was great! The resort sits away from the mainland ( the bridge freaked me out driving over it) but I cannot remember the main route back across the bridge but there was a Publix less than 15 min down the road. The area just had a home feel to it, the pace was much slower. it took me 2 days just get the rush attitude off. I hope you give it a try and with the deal you are getting it sounds like plan.

Enjoy!

We stayed there in an Inn room as opposed to a Studio, less points for three nights and loved it, it was definitely much more beach oriented than Disney, which is what we were looking for,

The kids enjoyed it alot and after the relaxation we went on to the world.

Next time I would do the world and then go to Vero.

we stayed there last year and had a great time! we really didn't feel like we were at the world at all and it was a nice change of pace after the hustle and bustle that can sometimes take place there.

I am here now if anyone has any questions that I could help answer.

Hi! We are leaving Sunday for Vero Beach. I can't wait! I have not been able to find a clear answer about beach chairs/umbrellas. How much do the umbrellas cost to rent, and are they hard to get? How does it work...is it first come first serve each day, or can you rent them for the length of your stay so that you know you will have one each day? Can you reserve one the day before so that you do not have to get up super early to get one, or you do you have no choice but to get up early? Also, are there enough that you can reserve two umbrellas, or is there a limit of one per family?

Thank you!

I can't speak from experience since we usually bring our own beach chairs and umbrella, but the daily rental prices for DVC members are as follows:

2 Chairs and an umbrella - $24
Umbrella alone - $10
Beach chair - $7
Cushioned lounge chair - $9
2 lounges and umbrella - $28
Cabanas - $12

It doesn't appear that you can reserve them for the length of your stay but I'm not sure. I will try to find out tomorrow for you. Just from what I've noticed, they don't seem to sell out too quickly each day. My wife and I prefer the pool so I am sorry I don't have all your answers. When you check in they will give you a price list for all kinds of rentals and activities. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the info! One more question....what is the temp like out on the beach at night this time of year? I'm from Texas and am used to very HOT weather all of the time, so I get chilled very easily. I know the daytime is super hot, but is it a bit cooler on the beach at night? I am wondering if it would be worth packing a light sweater, or if that would be a waste of packing space.

Thanks!
