Value Resort Help

I am planning a trip to WDW in May of this year, and I am trying to go for 10 days, 9 nights.

I was wondering if you could tell me the better hotel overall...

Pop Century or the All Star Resorts?

As you can tell, I am trying to save some cash on this trip...

Your opinions are appreciated!!

I like Pop Century. The resort is newer and it has its own bus service. I also think it's in a more central location than the All-Stars.

Pop Century, better...it's location affords easy access to the parks and really nice views of Spaceship Earth, the tvs are larger, there is a pool bar (which you won't find at Sports or Music), and I prefer the theme. The All-Stars are in need of a refurbishment, I think.

I would recommend All Star Music Resort. I have stayed there 3 times and it is a very nice hotel for the value. I too am going back to WDW in may, and we will be staying at Pop Century for the first time, so I really can't say much about that resort. We always stay at Broadway in Music and it is very peaceful and quiet. Plus its very close to the smaller more quiet pool, although somewhat far from the bus stops/food court, maybe a 4/5 minute walk which isn't too bad. But Music is overall a great place to say I highly recommend it!

That "Play-Doh" building kinda makes me feel odd though, lol.

The All-Stars are going to be completly refurbished. I know that the Jazz section of Music is going down for rehab in April. The resort is getting all new rooms, new furniture, bedding, lighting, the works. We also have suits now in some sections, not sure if they are selling them yet, and they are really nice.

I would suggest Pop. Ive stayed there twice in the past couple years and its been good. The biggest thing that Pop has over All-stars is that only 1 bus comes to it meaning only 1 bus stop. All-stars have the 3 bus stops and the buses stop at all of them meaning that it takes longer to get places. That might not be true of the high bus times but it definatly is true for daytime rides. If your doing your own driving, Pop is closer(highway miles wise) to the parks than the all stars. If your going to AK the most AS is the best but if your going to visit downtown disney it will take longer from AS than from Pop. Otherwise they are very close to each other.

I would suggest either renting a car or ponying up the cash for a moderate resort. I really dislike the values.

But, if I HAD to choose, I'd pick Pop.

We stayed at Pop Century the week after Thanksgiving in 2004 and did not have a good experience. We had a non smoking room but could smell cigarette smoke alot and strong. I thought someone was just smoking outside our window but there was never anyone there. Also we were by the bowling pin pool. The pool closes at midnight but there were many nights we got woke up at 2 or 3 in the morning from loud people at the pool. Strictly my opinion but it just didn't have that disney magic like we always saw at the All Star Resorts.

All Star Movie Fans here! Tried Pop last October and it was good, no problems. If your trying to save money then the only difference is the taxes on Pop our cheaper due to its location. (In a different county or something) If your looking for money saving ideas....try bringing breakfast items with you and eat that so you can skip buying breakfast or just skip breakfast all together and do an early lunch, etc. Mainly shoot for two meals a day.

I love All Star Resorts (especially Sports, thats my favorite). Anyhow I can't really compare because I have never stayed at Pop but everytime I go I am hesitant to try something new because I love AS. I have stayed in moderates and those are great too and believe me I would prefer staying at a moderate then a Value but I make "value money" so value resorts is where I stay, LOL!!!
I actually love the buses at AS (especially sports because it is always first pickup and first drop off) I have never felt like another line was moving faster then ours. The fact of the matter is at the end of the night no one can get back to their room fast enough so any line is a LONG and SLOW line, know what I am saying? Just my two cents! Have fun!

In my humble opinion, Pop Century is the best value hotel. I have stayed at ASM and, although it was cute, I found Pop Century cleaner. I have stayed at PC several times and,along w/ AKL and POR, it is one of my favorite resorts. Have a great time whatever you decide to stay!

oh my god!! the all star resorts are so much better than pop century in my opinion. at the all stars you have a better variety of things at pop you dont. dont get me wrong i enjoyed my time there but next time before i stay in a deluxe im going to the all stars. everything there is so much better except the bus service which i think is wrong they should have a direct bus to each park and DTD.

PoP or....

Pop century is better, for the peacefulness, has its own bus, not as many people. All Star Movies is the nicest for the Decor.(and it has the nicest food court)

I know that I've said this before but I prefer Pop. The buses worked better for us there than at All Star Music. It seemed less crazy. I enjoyed the food court and loved my room (70's building). The themes are great. I will give All Stars my vote for better pools though. However, Pop has 3 pools and each All Star only has 2.

That's proportional to size, though...Pop Century is currently the size of 1½ All-Stars, so it has 50% more pool space than a single All-Star. The completed Pop Century will have 6 pools like the completed All-Stars...
