Hi all...

With Valentines Day next weekend I am asking you guys for some help...:)

Valentines Day is normally not a huge deal..as Drew and I show our love for each other every single day..:) but he has been so amazing and wonderful and has been working so much extra with his promotion he recently got and I really want to do something special for him to show him how much I appreciate and love all he does for Maggie and I.

The problem is what?

I want to surprise him with something..anything really to show my love and thanks and I know he is not expecting anything but probably a card from me and one from Maggie like I always do.

So, I know we have a lot of romantic people here..;)..anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks a lot.:D

Well Dana, you've been married long enough to realize that guy's needs are fairly straightforward and simple.

Romance is usually defined more by Victoria's Secret than with candles and flowers.

With that said, if you have someone that Maggie can stay with overnight, maybe a dinner out at a special place with a night stay at an Inn or quaint hotel would do the trick. That would work for me.

In my thoughts, VD is very much a holiday for the lady in your life, and making an effort beyond a card (toward a guy) is, well, uncomfortable.

...guess you shouldn't come my way looking for the real romantic....:o

Thanks Dave..:)

I have someone who will keep Maggie for us for a while on Sunday the 15th..but not overnight..and we are planning on dinner then..

I know that a trip to Victorias Secret would thrill him..but so does his t-shirts I wear every night..

I guess what I really want to do is just something to show my appreciation for him..which I do tell him every day but something different...and I guess since he never expects anything on valentines Day as he is the one always getting me something it would be nice..

I am just kinda stuck on what to do..

I guess Steak, beer and no t-shirt could be okay huh?:lookaroun

Maybe throw in a power tool or a xbox game..:D

Tam...your wife is a lucky woman..;)

Gotcha...:D

I was looking at Disneys website and maybe renting a boat or getting a fishing excursion thingie would be cool also..

Heidi has had a lot of success with the fishing excursions. If you're real brave you can also do parasailing or a romantic fireworks cruise.

(I can be romantic...I just don't take being romanced well...)

You could quietly arrange so someone watches Maggie overnight, then tell Drew to meet you somewhere for dinner, keep it a mystery what's up until he arrives and say we have the night to ourselves. My husband did that our first Valentine's Day togeather. I loved not having spending the night feeding animals, looking around the house seeing what has to get done, etc.. :)

Does Drew have an I-Pod? If not, consider getting him one which will also hold pictures. Put pictures of you and Maggie and then some pictures of just the two of you. In our songs thread there are lyrics of beautiful songs, pick some romantic songs that remind you of him or of your relationship. So even when he is not with you and Maggie, he can listen and look at his I-Pod and see the two beautiful people who love him.

This is the key. Guys can be very romantic, but we generally don't take being romanced all that great. Therefore, Dana, do something nice for him, but don't go overboard with it to where you're making him uncomfortable. For me, dinner out, something to do with sports, an action flick, etc. would suit me fine. And the no t-shirt thing doesn't hurt either.

My husband is in the same boat! So I have decided to try to do things for him that he has been too busy to do/mess with since he has been so busy at work.

I am most excited about filling up his digital frame from Christmas with pictures, because he looks at it all the time and mutters about not having time to fill it up with pictures. The rest is a bit blurry, but I am hopeful that I can come up with some more of these little things to do for him!

I hope that this idea helps and that you have a great Valentine's Day!
