Vacation from Hell again

We just returned from disney after a 6 day vacation. When we booked they did not tell us the main pool at All Star Resorts would be closed. Needless to say husband in wheelchair, 40 basball teams staying there get the picture. No where to sit, up all hours of the night from day 1 and rude kids from all over. Complained call security every night. Finally went to see manager and she gave me 100 dollars back. I find that is not making up for a horrible vacation. This happened before to us. We just moved from Pa. to Fla., my husband and I retired and my daughter graduated from high school so we thought we would have a nice celebration. Needless to say we are heartbroken. Thought timing was right for attendance, but I guess we were wrong. We even bought season passes. I am so upset. Anyone have any suggestions? I came home and emailed guest services. I feel in my heart we were lied to from the start. They told me they just found out about the pool and the baseball teams. I find that hard to believe

This is what gets me. It doesn't matter if you were at All Stars, Wilderness Lodge, or a Super-8...you are a paying guest at a lodging facility, and the staff needs to ensure people are quiet after a certain time. Just because the property is hosting (insert group's name here), doesn't mean said group is allowed to disturb other guests in the middle of the night. Anyone over the age of 4 should know better than to be loud on hotel/motel floors past a certain time. Where were the coaches/group leaders?

Sorry you had a rough trip.

The All-Stars always seem to be the worst in the summer when a lot of the baseball tournaments are going on at WWOS. I've run into issues with the ball clubs in hotels outside the park too. July and August are the times most of those teams are there. You do have some football teams in the fall but there does not seem to be the volume that occurs during the last part of baseball season. After Labor Day, the baseball teams are practically gone because they are all back in school.

Yea, this is another reason why I will not stay at Value Resorts. Next month, I am giving AoA a chance because it is new and seems a step above, but I hope I don't regret it because I am very excited to stay there. I switched from Caribbean Beach.

Loved AoA. And I'm a Values snob.

Luckily me and my brother are staying there the last week in February so hopefully it shouldn't be AS BAD.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience though :(

Exactly.... It's too bad that the Resort Managers don't require more supervision out of those Adults who are supposedly along on the trip to supervise. We've seen too many "group leaders" partying it up and totally unaware what the underage kids under their "care" are doing. Should be a policy that after X # of complaints there are consequences.

They were just as bad as the kids. They had case after case of beer being brought in. I don't care if you want to drink and have fun but not at 3 and 4 in the morning when others are trying to sleep. Plus, only one pool and being lied to was enough. When I say pool reached capacity and no one did anything. I gave it another shot, lost money to stay there and this time I will never stay at a value again.

We've stayed at Values and Moderates (wouldn't waste money on Deluxe) and have never had an issue with noise, sports teams, or customer service at a Value. We love the All Stars, but prefer Pop. Our next trip will be at the ASMovies with adjoining rooms. If the AoA drops prices slightly we may stay there. We spend so little time in the room or at the resort, spending the money on anything other than a Value seems like a waste.

I'd take Pop over ANY of the All-Stars any day. Much more comfortable, better food court, and generally quieter, at least when I've been there (usually in late fall).

What's with the blanketing of "values" as a breeding ground for unruly people? Just because there are sometimes groups of those kinds of people doesn't mean you should look down on "values" as if it's a leper colony or something. We've stayed at Pop 3 times and have never had a problem with noise or unruly people.

Agreed. I don't like the idea that more money = more class. We've stayed in both value resorts (POP) and deluxe (we're DVC now), and you can run into rude, obnoxious people in either. Seems kind of snobby to say rude person X stayed at a value, therefore everyone who stays at a value resort is the same.

It's stereotyping, but it can be true at the Values because of the tour groups. Believe me when I say, I love the Deluxe Resorts, but I don't stay there because I'm wealthy. I'm not wealthy by any means. As it turns out, I absolutely love the Value Resorts. But now, with 3 kids, we tend to spend a bit more time at the pool, or in the room for a midday nap. I won't take the chance of dealing with the tour groups at both the parks and the hotel.

This is kind of off topic but IMOP if more families vacationed like this in WDW there would be a lot fewer grouchy adults and kids having massive melt downs. It is amazing what a couple hours back at the hotel in the afternoon can do for your mental well being in Disney.

I am not being a snob. We stayed at Music a few years ago and had a great time. It just seems they don't have enough security at night to keep the kids from running wild. I know I had 4 children ranging from 38, 31, 22 and 18. They knew better to act like this. With or without supervision. Some people can't afford expensive hotels when on fixed incomes. I believe Disney should cater to all. Keep the tour groups, baseball teams in one value resort. And by all means don't close a pool during this time and if so make people aware of it. We would have asked to stay somewhere else.

Well, it was more in response to this;

Yep... thought it sounded familiar... http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/never-in-july-at-as-music.209661/

Should've learned the lesson about the values the first time.
