Vacation from Hell again

We just returned from disney after a 6 day vacation. When we booked they did not tell us the main pool at All Star Resorts would be closed. Needless to say husband in wheelchair, 40 basball teams staying there get the picture. No where to sit, up all hours of the night from day 1 and rude kids from all over. Complained call security every night. Finally went to see manager and she gave me 100 dollars back. I find that is not making up for a horrible vacation. This happened before to us. We just moved from Pa. to Fla., my husband and I retired and my daughter graduated from high school so we thought we would have a nice celebration. Needless to say we are heartbroken. Thought timing was right for attendance, but I guess we were wrong. We even bought season passes. I am so upset. Anyone have any suggestions? I came home and emailed guest services. I feel in my heart we were lied to from the start. They told me they just found out about the pool and the baseball teams. I find that hard to believe

Well, it was more in response to this;
I take it this has never happened to yoy and I am glad for you. You don't have to be so negative. I heard from Disney today and they worked with me. Apparently I was not the only one to be upset. Thanks to everyone who gave me hope .

Uh, I wasn't being negative. I was being anti-negative in saying that negative things haven't happened to us. I was also defending the Values from being looked upon as a cesspool. Calm down.

Not for nothing but if you want the dream Disney vacation, you cant expect to pay for the Values. Sorry but its true. If your expectation is something other than a thousand kids running around parentless and rude as hell then you seriously need to book the POFQ or other small quiet moderate. Otherwise stay offsite and use your passes and enjoy. I feel for you but honestly you should know better. Additionally there are sites like this that would have told you of the main pool refurb. And I am pretty sure you can see what is booked at All Star Sports so you know what you are walking into (i.e Pop Warner tourney, Cheerleading tournament, Baseball tourney etc). Sorry if this seems cold but you have to take some blame here.

Well I guess that you should take some blame too, since you seem to know how "terrible" the values are yet you didn't inform them before they left for their trip.....

See how silly that sounds?

Seems like the poster is advocating a laissez-faire approach. Do your due diligence and respond to the situation the best you can and if not - you deal with the consequences. The buyer must beware of the corporation and their goal (to make money)

The person staying at the "value" resort had a few choices they could have made. Whether that be request a new room - a room at a comparable rate at another one of the "values" or even threatened a charge-back due to the inability to provide adequate lodging since they weren't willing to work with OP.

If it were me, I would have complained right then and there. I shouldn't have to worry about tour groups and unsupervised children running around the resort, keeping me up at night. Yes, I can check to see which groups will be at the resort but why should that factor into my decision of where to stay? If All Star Sports is my favorite resort and I love to stay there, as a paying guest, I have every right to a quiet place to sleep at night no matter if it's a value, moderate or deluxe. It's Disney's job to ensure that everyone follows the SAME rules and it's their job to make sure the resort is quiet at night. Simple as that.

Let's be fair here.... The values are not always running rampant with wild heathen children and nor are they always "rude as hell". This may be truer during the summer months, but even then it is not that bad.We have been to WDW many times and have stayed in values many of those trips. We have yet to have a bad stay, and have never dealt with "rude as hell" or parentless kids, let alone a thousand of them. The values are just fine and in some respects better than a moderate or deluxe. Some people here (not you) are coming off rather "elitist" by slamming on the values and acting like they would never stay there. It almost sounds like someone saying "We'd never stay there and be near all of that riff-raff!" in a Thurston Howell III voice. It's getting pretty condescending. My wife and I make a very good earning every year, yet we prefer the value resorts. Actually, I flat refuse to stay at the moderate and deluxe level simply because of how rude the guests were during the few times we went to these resorts. I've never been looked at so rude in all of my life. Heck, at the Boardwalk Resort two ladies refused to get on the elevator with my family and said ,pretty rudely after looking us all up and down, "No. We'll take the next one." with a sneer. We were even dressed very appropriately and were not acting like heathens. We looked and behaved just like anyone else there that day and we got that attitude from the guests. Wow. I'd take a down to Earth value guest any day.

The only time I had a problem at a value was in 2007 and the couple next door must have been newlyweds (if ya get my drift) and we had to move to another room. We were even moved to a room right by the main pool and we still had no issues with loud and "rude as hell" children. ;)

So sorry to hear someone had such a terrible experience at the values. We've stayed at All Star Movies Sept '09 and just got back from 6 nights as All Star Music (Sept 2-8). We stayed on the second floor of Jazz Inn facing the main walkway. We had a very clean room and there was absolutely no noise at night. We were very pleased. Now I know this also has alot to do when you stay, but 2 seperate occasions for us in September have been memorable.

I guess I'm lucky. I have stayed at Port Orleans right after it opened in 92 and I have stayed at the Contempory in '92 as well. I have always wanted to stay there since I was 12 yo buut it was smelly and dank. Disney moved us to PO after we complained. I have been a WDW fan since I can remember. We went to hawaii and Stayed at the Marriott Ko Olinia Right next to Aulani. And In my 50 yo old opinion Disney has a beautiful hotel . But everything is over priced. My stay for me and my partner who work's for Marriott with a suite round trip airfare for 2 and rental car for the total of 8 days was a grand total of $3500.00 total cost. Not per person. I will never stay at a Disney overpriced resort again. Just my 2 cents. I'm over Disney and I have been to WDW 20 times over 30 yrs.

Did you have a travel agent? Did you check out this site to see that the pool and such were under refirbishment? I got back from a trip there about 2 weeks ago.
I knew that certain places were going to be shut down including Test Track and pools. I have been at WDW many times in the past and learned never to go during Spring Break and 1st week of september/end of august. (Especially at the all-star resorts) We were there the 26th of Aug and came home the 6ht. I will never stay at the all-star resorts again!! There are sports camps there and the walls are too noisy. Let alone the pools and cafeterias. I have stayed at the Caribbean Beach, Yatch Club and Coronado Springs as well and will never go back to the All Stars. I wish I could make it better for you and erase the bad moments. There have to be some good in there as well. I hope that thisgets better.
