join the ever expanding British population in Florida

In my office we have 1 guy from Leeds, a Geordie, and a Londoner. The Londoner is a citizen, the Geordie is on a work visa, but gets it renewed every year (she was transferred from the UK offices of my work to the US), and the guy from Leeds married an American.

I'm not going to bother with the mug this time. Instead, I will pick up a 24 pack of walmart brand cola for a couple bucks and leave it in my room, and throw a couple in the ice bucket each day to drink when we get back at night. It will save money, and I won't have to walk 52 miles to the food court every time I want a refill. :)

We do that with beers and pop that we like that the resorts don't offer... the ice melts by the end of the day. You will need a cooler. Without one, the drinks are luke warm... unless you are okay with adding ice in a cup, that is.

Just my $0.02 :D

 We do the same thing. We leave them in a cooler though. This time it was Sam's Choice bottled water and soda. It was much cheaper than the mugs. You get more soda too.

We're going to be going back to the room each day for 3-4 hours for naps so I'll be able to refill the ice then...we'll also have a cooler for milk and stuff so we can keep soda in there too.

With that said, Disney should raise the price of the mugs to $20 and let them be refillable EVERYWHERE on Disney property, including the parks!

Take a couple trash bags to line your cooler for the ice. No leaking and easier to dump!

You know...

I really don't see what the big d@#^ deal is.

First of all, I don't see why someone at one resort would be at another resort, unless they feel the need to use another pool (which is another story entirely) or if they want to eat at a specific restaurant.
Either way, I don't see why someone who's staying at the AKL and has an AKL lodge can't use a mug at the Grand Flo for a piddly little refil.
Seriously, it's ridiculous that people make such a big deal of this.

Calm.
Down.

Geez...

people are too uptight...

and ocassional refill if you're visiting a resort WHILE a guest at a different WDW resort is fine. But recycling them is bad, yesh.

People are too uptight... any more, and they'll need warmed Vaseline to remove the sticks from their .

To paraphrase the great Ferris Bueller:

Pardon my French, but some of these people are so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up their , in two weeks you'd have a diamond.

Back off!

I had the idea fist. If there are any folks mad about me showing up at your hotel with my hotel's mug, I'd like to have a talk with you about a plan that will profit us both.

:king:

You're right in that it shouldn't be that big of a deal, and I'd bet a lot of Disney emplyoees would agree with you which is why it seems the rule is not enforced all that much. But I figure, it's their house, their rules. Sure you spend your money there, but in exchange for that money, you can't expect to get more than what you were told you would get. The "I should get it because I want it" frame of mind is selfish at its core. I'm not saying don't try it; hell I may try it myself, but I'm deluding myself into thinking it's OK, especially if someone who works there decided to call me out on it.

And while I'm not enough of a Disney expert to understand why people make such a big deal about this, it's probably because there are so few values at Disney that when one comes out it's almost unbelievable. So the goodniks freak out when they think it could be taken away from them because some people abuse it.
