Using resort mugs at other resorts

*Whispers quietly* Yeah, I used my AKL refillable mug at ASMovies last summer and plan on using it at PC when I visit the resort next month... just act normal, like you aren't even aware that your mug is from another resort... have a game face... works everytime!

That is just WRONG!! If you can afford to stay on site, you certainly can afford $10.99 to get a mug for your vacation.

Using a mug from another resort is stealing and I am surprised people on this board are even contemplating doing this!!

I like a good deal as much as the next person, but I dont' reuse my mugs from year to year. I think you should buy them, use them at your resort only, take them home and don't bring them back. Yes, it's not enforced but that's because the soda machines are on an island for anybody to walk up to. If people keep abusing the access to these machines, they will make them harder to get to. One person will ruin it for everybody, happens every time.

We don't reuse our mugs either. However, the price has gone up from 10.99 to 11.99--probably from people stealing drinks.

Although, another exception is in Port Orleans. You staying at French Quarter, you can use your mugs at Riverside, and vice versa. We took advantage of that this past trip.

I usually buy a new mug for each year... it's just gross not to. But I DO NOT buy a new mug or a seperate drink when I hop from resort to resort... I just refill the one I have from the resort I am staying at.

I don't know why some people get so bent out of shape over the whole mug situation. We are all spending good money visiting WDW, from tickets and reservations, souviners and food, snacks and drinks in the parks... it's not right to use your cup during more than one trip, but I am sure that Disney is not going to go out of business if people buy a mug (because remember, you must originally purchase a mug at one point) and decide to use it again when they stay in Disney resorts and eat food at Disney resort food-courts. Stop making such a big deal about it! We are all spending HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS to visit WDW... the least they can do is let us use our mugs again!

We go thru this every couple of months. Why? Who knows. Maybe people are looking to get the OK from everyone else..."everybody is doing it". We buy new mugs every year and we get our money's worth. I just packed away mugs from our last three trips.

Although We have never bought one, I think it would be fair to resort hop with your mug during a trip. It all comes from the same place. I don't believe it is alright to bring the mugs back on future visits. This just seems to be a fair compromise to the situation. That being said, however, the seller of the product makes the rules. If you don't like them, don't buy it. I really can't believe that this is such a hotly contested recurrent topic.

First let me say that whenever I say on property I try not to resort hop – my philosophy is if I’m paying that much to stay at a resort then why not use it every second that I can.

For a few years I would think to myself that I was going to bring my mugs back to re-fill them on my next trip but never did, so over a few years I noticed that I was building up quite a mug collection and decided to get new ones every time I would go to WDW.
If you asked me 7 years ago if I thought it was wrong I would say no way, but as I have gotten older I have come to see the value of being honest, and what’s the big deal about paying 12 bucks for unlimited soda at a place that charges you 2.50 for just one.

On a side note last January I was having lunch at the Boardwalk and happened to have a mug in my backpack so just out of curiosity I asked if he could fill up and he said yes but it would cost like 1.25 or something like that, just thought that was interesting.

One more thing – the mugs have gotten cheaper over the years. The one I got at the Contemporary Resort back in like 1992 it ten times better than the ones they sell now. I still use that old Contemporary mug (hey that’s funny - “old Contemporary” it’s a contradiction – oh well) and it’ll keep drinks cold all day long, the new ones aren’t nearly as nice.

What about using mugs for equal resorts, or better, at lesser resorts? So, would it be OK to use an AKL mug at an All-Star, but not visa-versa? And since the All-Stars are interchangable, does that go for the PC also (All-Star mug used at PC) since they are all Value Resorts?

This thread surprises me since a 12-16 oz fountain drink costs 10-15 cents and Disney charges $2.50 (I know, add the ice and throw in some overhead and labor). Typically, a business will base it's price on 2-3x their cost, so that's a hefty [profit] margin on drinks alone.

I see nothing wrong with bringing back a mug to the same resort, espeically if in the same year or even the next year. I don't personally use other mugs at other resorts (expect for the All-Stars, which is allowed), but I've seen every mug there is at the All-Star fountain, including GF! :dazzle:

Water Park mugs

When we were in BB back in 2002 we brought a refillable mug and was told if we returned on another day or went to TL during our stay, just bring the mug and buy a new "bar code" sticker for the day of our visit. We are coming back to disney in August and wondered if this is still the case as it worked really well?

I don't know about Mark but, once I took a resort mug from the Contemp to Coronado Springs and tried to get a refill of jack and coke. The bartender ... he was mad...
