US Airways

Hi all. Dont know if anyone got this yet but I saw it on my local News website in Buffalo, NY....

"You'll soon have to pay for peanuts on one of Buffalo's biggest airlines.

Rising fuel costs are prompting U.S. Airways to end it's practice of giving coach customers free snacks on domestic flights. The new policy takes effect this Sunday, June 1st.
U.S. Airways Spokesperson Morgan Durrant sent the following statement:
"This was a difficult decision but one we felt had to be made with crude oil at $130 per barrel. The move does not affect trans-Atlantic service in any cabin or First Class service, only domestic coach. Removing snacks reduces our costs which is critical with fuel being extremely expensive."

The price of oil is an excuse to do this. But, I did read that they are the airline most likely to slip into bankruptcy (again).

I've said this before, I'll say it again. My mom worked for 15 years for Piedmont/USAir/US Airways. If we were paying for our tickets, we NEVER flew US Airways. She hated it that much.

This is getting ridiculously out of hand. First we are charged for our second checked bag...then we are charged for the first checked bag...now we are charged for in flight snacks AND ticket prices have almost doubled. On top of all of that our local airport (Asheville Regional)just dropped thier direct flight indefinitely.

So much for "flying the friendly skies"!:fork:

No more crappy pretzels? I'll survive .

As a frequent business traveler, I bring my own snacks with me, including a PBJ for coast-to-coast flights.

Im ok with this. Its just peanuts, just dont eat them or buy some snacks. The airlines have to do something or they are all going to be out of business soon (they are losing alot of money every quarter). Then none of us will be flying to WDW.
