URGENT! Need help..

I am booking airline tickets for two teenagers (12 & 14) on Southwest Airlines. However, it says they need to have a government ID. They do not have that. What do you use in place of that?

State issued ID's work. Most state's DMV's will issue a picture ID card. Of course it may cost a few bucks and may take a few weeks to get.

You're best bet is to contact the airline and ask what forms of ID they'll accept (maybe birth certificates)

I think as long as they are traveling with an adult they dont need them..if they are going SOLO then they will need them. You would have to take them to your DMV to have ID cards issued.

I do not know about your state, but with the proper birth record and your id; you can get a ID for the kids in about 30 minutes at the DVM.

Can you use their birth certificates as ID?

My son is 13 years old, he's also 6' 1"tall and goes about 225 lbs and looks 18-20 years of age. Since he was about 8years old I have carried a copy of his birth certificate with me to use as ID.

I have been attacked by "hockey moms" who think my son is some sort of "ringer" and that the coach and I are trying to pull a fast one. I have pulled out that birth dertificate a few times to shut them up.

Do they have passports you can use, since they don't have drivers' licenses??

I believe they will need either an ID with their picture on it and/or birth certificate and socical security card. Not truly certain, maybe call the airline and double check what is acceptable so you are certain before they go. :sohappy:

You can use either a passport or state issued I.D. A state issued I.D. is a good idea to have regardless.

I've traveled with my 14 year old nephew as recently as 9/2010 and he was never asked for ID in the airport. They've always been satisfied with just mine.
