ExxonMobil to End Disney World sponsorship - IRVING, TEXAS, July 16

ExxonMobil has decided not to renew its sponsorship of Disney’s Universe of Energy pavilion at Epcot, Orlando, Florida, effective March 13, 2004. ExxonMobil appreciates the quality sponsorship opportunity that the Universe of Energy pavilion has provided. However, after more than 20 years involvement, we have made a business decision not to renew our sponsorship.

It sure could use it, I go to Epcot every couple of months, and I've not bothered with this since probably 1999, and I dont really miss it. I'm all for keeping classic rides, but man this one is not only dull, it's way too long.

Maybe Chevron or Shell will step in. But with the way thing have been going I not going to hold my breath. Disney is going to have to come up with new ways of attracting new sponsors and keeping the old ones.

I *really* hope they keep the educational aspects high and use "Ellen" as a model. Personally, I really love the ride length...because it's both funny and intriguing all throughout.

Hooooray! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:
I hope so... the fossil fuel opinion/slant kinda irks me.... other than that... I have always kinda liked UoE :)

Disney's Time to Shine

Rumor has it that BP (www.bp.com) may be "Energy's" next sponsor.

Disney's Time to Shine

If Ellen's Energy Adventure is to close soon, Disney has its chance to make one of the best refurbishments or rehabs in a while. It's pretty much a "clean slate" - but is Disney up to the chance to create an entertaining AND educational show? I would say yes.

Hopefully with the use of a sensory finale - perhaps the mirrors? - along with original songs, quality entertainment, and originality, the next Universe of Energy can be truly Disneyesque.

Its almost definate that they will at least update the ride once the new sponsor steps in....fazing out ellen MAY be in the cards, but I doubt it (noting her new popularity thanks in no small part to finding nemo)....but a new dialogue would definatly be required.

Someone jog my memory.. Why would a new dialouge be required? Accouple snips here in the preshow and take down the Exxon signs, then they are all set!

Bill Nye aint going anywhere.. Wheres the problem?

There are probably things having to do with Exxon here and there in the dialogue...

After all, Disney killed Horizons under the idea that it was too-involved with GE...and WOL may be done the same way with MetLife.

I for one think the current Ellen's Energy Adventure is brilliant. I love everything about it, including the length. I'm one of the biggest supporters of change but to me, Wonders of Life needs the rehab much more than UOE.

You gotta try and look at it from this point of view...

What sponsor would want to sign on a ride thats not changing at all? Disney will do something to make the deal seem a bit more sweet...

That includes a dancing 711 Slurby at the entrance of UoE.

Speaking of refurb...the whole exterior change seems to support my idea of the company putting all of its "leftover" money in before the attraction closes... *shrug*
