Bill Nye is really skinny and he looks like he is in his 40's. He looks just like he looks on the show.

The funny thing was on that day that there were several groups of cast members who did not know that the other cast members were there. There was a group dressed in casual clothes that thought the ride would not open at all until the ride is oficially open. The cast members, who knew the ride would probably be open that day. And of course, the tour guides with Bill Nye.

I think it was june 26th. I know for sure that it was a friday in June.

First thing. Since I was in such a big crowd and first in line for mission:space. I don't think I would be able to hear him. I did not even realize it was him until people started chanting his name.

am i the only one who finds it odd when a discussion on a message board ends up just being a conversation between 2 people that lasts about 10 posts?

I don't want UoE to change. I have seen the real Bill Nye go to that ride after getting a tour of Mission: Space. This is a big sign.

Funny he was actually in a disney theme park...I thought he had had it with disney after he sued them a couple of years ago for not paying him for using his likeness in theme park attractions (Innoventions and UoE included).

From what I remember, Bill Nye is more then just a science guy, but i'm not sure.

Let's combine rumors shall we:
The current Uoe Could be torn out and replaced with a large Fl Sorin' ride. if it's that popular, why not put it in one of the largest show bulidings left on property

What sponsor would want to sign on a ride thats not changing at all? Disney will do something to make the deal seem a bit more sweet...

That's actually not how sponsorships work at all, unfortunately. Most sponsors jump at the chance to be apart of an existing ride. Why? Because it has a built in fan-base and simply the sign of their name appearing on a exisisting ride is sure to get a lot of people's attention. Sponsors are really only concerned about two things when spending $$$ to buy in to a ride: 1. How much is this commitment going to cost them 2. How many people go on this ride. The fact that current UoE is constantly at at-least 90% capacity or higher, is what is going to catch the eye of most companies. Having to completely overhaul the ride is going to cost a sponsor extra $$$ which is something they'd rather avoid doing; and Disney is not about to chip in their $$ to come up with a new Energy movie/attraction when the one they currently put in cost them a lot (the audio animatronic of Ellen, alone, cost them over $1 million). The current UoE was meant to last until at least 2007* according to Disney and a few people at WDI, so folks, with or without a new sponsor, it's not changing for awhile.

*(The "new" UofE was completed at the end of 1996.)As a rule of thumb, everything made for Epcot (and for some attractions in the other parks) are built with the idea that they have at a minimum,a 10 year life span. That's why you all have been hearing a lot about Project Gemini when it comes to Epcot, because the first *major* overhaul of Epcot occured in and around 1994 with the changes in Spaceship Earth, Communicore/Innoventions, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, a minor overhaul of the Land, etc. Come 2004, it will be at the 10 year mark, which is the time that you can expect changes at Epcot.

Supposedely AT&T have pulled out of SSE, Exxon for UoE, G.E. for illuminations? Do you think there i something going on - Disney asking for more money from the sponsors to fund P.G.? What do we think?

To be honest I'm glad exxon are pulling out. They are so un-ethical.

It's interesting that you mention other sponsors. HP, Nesltle, and GM are still in the game (what, with GM getting a custom attraction), as far as future world is concerned. Maybe Disney should look to more non-traditonal sponsors, like, dare I say, the Starbucks or Amazon.com...

EDIT: Well, maybe not the last one, but hopefully you get the picture.

They are pulling out because they are having financial problems so they dont want to dump extra money into the ride. This is no suprise.

I like UOE but I do feel it is a tad long. The sound and the ride is really cool to me though.
