Yes
Tried riding this attraction multiple times when last at WDW. The ENTIRE time the CM was having to literally yell over the PA at other guests on the ride. Either to stop taking pictures or to stay seated, etc... It was obvious the guests being talked to were a real issue but this killed the vast majority of all effects because once the Mic was engaged all audio would stop in the room we were in and would not re-engage until the next room. I wish they could re work this system into zones to limit the ride interruptions. If it had not been for this issue, I would have had no complaints about this attraction. There are other areas on park that need work before anything happens to Imagination as far as I'm concerned.

It is absolutely ridiculous that an Attraction about the Imagination would be boring or stale... It is even more ridiculous that a company that built their fame and reputation on imaginative ground breaking entertainment cannot create a better pavilion devoted to imagination...Disney even has an entire creative department called imagineers and all they can come up with is a skunk smell blown in your face and a shuttered second floor sensory playground?... It doesn't have to be a thrill ride, but it should absolutely be exciting and engaging...

Yeah, this is the saddest part. The theme of imagination just has so much potential for creativity, it's pretty much a blank canvas for imagineers to create on.

In your original post you are basically asking why people dislike the ride and state that you really enjoy it, then you go on in your other posts to explain why no one likes the ride and why it will never be popular. I am not really clear what point you are trying to make?

Right. I enjoy the attraction, and I am looking for reasons why it is not liked in the community. It is commonly mentioned that it is disliked with no real reason given why. I offered a few reasons why I think it may not be popular because possibly it is too short, not as good as the original, not a thrill ride, boring/uncool, etc... Then I tried to provide a defense to those complaints. I am not sure if I am being made fun of or not with some of the replies, but either way, I think this ride serves its purpose well.

Not being made fun of, just being disagreed with.

Okay I'll bite. So, what is the issue that makes this an attraction the one that needs attention higher than others at Epcot? I hear repeatedly that Imagination needs to be on the refurb list, and I have to be honest, if I saw an Imagination Pavilion makeover before Universe of Energy, Wonders of Life, Odyssey, etc... I would be disappointed.

Lack of depth. Lack of likable characters. Odd premise, why is the head of the Imagination Institute so unimaginative? Reliance on cheap gags (ie. skunk smell). Riders are ultimately just poked and prodded, something that is really only desired in haunts.

I agree with your points, and some others that were mentioned. With that being said, is it that terrible that it needs to trump other issues at the park? Of course it could be better, but at the end of the day, I am able to ride it with my little girls, and get a kick out of some of it, which is what the whole Disney experience is supposed to be about. I would hate to lose that.

How do you lose getting to spend time with your girls by there being a bigger, better attraction? You're the only one who seems convinced that thrill rides are a must going forward.

No, my claim was that the masses would be most satisfied with a thrill ride. My point is the current Imagination ride can in its current state, is an attraction that is working. I would prefer to spend time with my girls on a bigger better attraction on one that is more dilapidated than Imagination.

An attraction that is barely running at capacity and is widely panned is not one that is working.

I personally feel it's the pavilion in Future World that needs the most attention. I don't see Wonders of Life or Odyssey returning to their original purpose, and Energy is a little out-dated but at least it's a complete attraction. Not only does the Imagination ride need a major update, it would be nice to have something back in the imageworks space, and Captain-Eo was a nice blast from the past but it's time for it to go and be replaced by something better.

It simply pales in comparison to the depth of the original attraction.

Mexico is a walk on too. However, if I was grading attractions, Imagination would not be in last place.
I get more angry that the flagship soarin' has more dust bunnies than bugs on my windshield. And test track, I don't even know what that is anymore.

a very poor replacement for World of Motion. 'GM: lets replace a 170 AA's and make it about driving a car around the outside'... TDO-- as long as you are paying.

I think it made plenty of sense at the time.
Epcot was built with a lot of slow-moving, figure-heavy attractions which by the mid-'90s simply weren't connecting with a lot of families at the time.
The place needed a thrill ride in the worst way and GM wanted something that looked fresh and had a greater emphasis on their product and spent less time on sea explorers and airplanes.
While I'm not fully satisfied with the original version of Test Track or the re-do, I still think the ride system is unique and exciting, and revolutionary at the time. I'd love to see Disney do something else with it, beyond Center of the Earth and Racers.

[the] current ride is also entertaining, and does not feel old, or falling apart.

Wow, you definitely don't work at the ride! It is LITERALLY falling apart, as it goes down almost on a daily basis! Leaks, AAs that stop working, cars that bump into the walls and have to be taken out of service for almost a year (true story), etc... This version of the ride needs to be replaced IMMEDIATELY.

You are correct. I do not work on the ride. But I can tell you there are many things behind your back, that you do not know about, that you encounter every day - and still enjoy them. As a guest, and on the surface, I will argue against your timeline for replacement.

And, how does a vehicle on a track bump into walls?
