Rumor Upcoming Price Increases

That’s expensive in totality, but I still think it’s pretty cheap for 5 full days of a premium experience, particularly if you go at the right time of year and can spend up to 16 hours a day in the parks.

My family of three (excludes the infant that doesn’t cost anything) paid $1060 for our 5-day hoppers this past December. A year ago, we spent roughly $800 on entertainment and attractions over five days in Branson. So it’s pretty close. And Disney is a lot better than Branson. Folks in Branson are nice, and Silver Dollar City is cleaner and nicer than a Six Flags. But it’s still not Disney. The kicker is we can drive to Branson but Disneyland requires flights. So yes, a Disney trip is more expensive for us. But the transportation and hotel costs aren’t going to Disney (assuming offsite stay). Disney is only getting the $1050 we pay to be in their parks for five days, and I maintain that is a reasonably fair price.
Branson? My dad says it's like Vegas, if it were run by Ned Flanders.

It's expensive when a vacation is not only the theme park tickets. It's everything else too like food, water, transportation, hotel. Even as a staycation, it's still expensive. Tickets should be a small part of an expense in a vacation. Are you paying for those $45 spirit shirts? Or $25 souvenir popcorn containers too?

Flying is expensive no matter where you’re going. And hotels can be a big expense, too, no matter where you go. I consistently have paid more to stay near a popular national park like Zion or Yosemite than I have to stay near Disneyland.

Tickets to Disneyland aren’t a “small part” of the vacation expense, because in my opinion, Disneyland is the vacation. I can spend five days there. Whereas in Branson, we had to do random different activities every day to fill up our trip, and the cost added up. Theme park tickets were definitely a smaller portion of that trip, but just because there was more variety and a nicer hotel, I wouldn’t necessarily say it was a better “value” as a vacation. I greatly value the original Disneyland, as do a lot of other people. If the price was too low, it would be even more crowded.

It is. That’s why I don’t normally join the chorus that complain about Disney prices. Of course one day tickets are expensive. But most people probably aren’t buying one day tickets.

I just visited with a one day ticket. I go about 2-3 times a year, and a single day ticket is cheaper and easier than a pass.

I can get a 5 day ticket for 270... But that's just because Disney likes me more.

Or takes pity on my exchange rate (which let's be frank, isn't a Disney-like behaviour), so they probably like me more!

I didn't go to DL but I saw the Who at the Hollywood Bowl in October and my round trip flight was a shade under $49 from Minneapolis. I've flown for $99 rt and other amounts but all less than $200. These are on Spirit and some people won't fly Spirit. I have the largest personal item that fits in their test box so I don't have to pay for luggage and their seats are wider than a lot of other airlines. Foot room not so much but it doesn't bother me for a 3.5 hour flight especially when I have paid so little.

Its actually cheaper to fly outside of the USA. an airline ticket from new York to LA can cost up to $700 plus dollars but you can fly to Europe for $400-$500-I do that every few months. This last November paid $475 round trip to Spain, i have found ticket from LAX to Paris for the months of April and May for are as low as $450.

I have found that i rather get on a plane and fly to Europe or Asia and enjoy a vacation for a full week and still pay less then a few days at Disneyland. i could even include the international parks and probably still pay less.

Disneyland resort vacations seem to be a good value for what they offer but it is quite an expensive vacation compared to other alternatives

Is that Europe $475 non stop ? I looked 6 months in advance and RT from NY was between $1k and $1500 for July to Barcelona while LAX from philly or Newark was more like $300 nonstop

there are direct LAX - CDG (Paris) with Norwegian Airlines for sometimes as cheap as 300€ roundtrip. However with the grounding of the 737MAX, I think they're not currently offered
