Unpopular WDW Opinions

I generally don't participate in this type of thread, but it's Friday and I'm bored, so here goes:

1. The reputation of the "it's a small world" song as being grating is wrong. In fact, the attraction doesn't just repeat the same lines over and over because it's often in different language.

2. Rivers of Light is the second best nighttime show in Walt Disney World behind Illuminations: ROE.

3. Character dining is a waste of money, even with young kids that love characters.

4. Na'vi River Journey is a stunning attraction and not just an afterthought behind Flight of Passage.

5. Despite not really fitting in Epcot, Soarin' Over California should be back in place because it's SO much better than the current version.

I was with you strongly on 1 through 4, and weakly on 5. I like the new Soarin', but I can sure see why many think the old one is better!

Oh no, no I wasn't referring to this thread. I was more referring to the news and rumours board and how rabid some people got over a playground!!

Ahh gotcha- yeah that's why I hope my reply wasn't smarmy. I get that probably 40-50% of these threads are for people to vent, or to offer a counter argument to people venting.

At least in this thread, there is already an understanding that 'my take here may not be agreed with by many' so even if someone said "I hate that there are rides in the parks! It should just be all pottery classes!' you can just shake your head and move on :p

My experience with character dining hasn't been great.

When I go to a character meal, it's usually (always!) not for the characters. For instance, when I do breakfast at Tusker House in DAK, it's to get ahead of the crowd and storm the rides early. It's not to meet Mickey.

I've let my AP lapse because the value just isn't there to me anymore, and we've switched to UO annual passes - because Harry Potter.

And time to recant. DW wanted to go to Disney this past weekend. We were gonna buy one day/one park tickets, but did the numbers and getting Silver Passes was a better deal.

So the value is there... when DW decides she wants to go to Disney instead of UO.

Also, LPT - Get the Capital One Savor card = 4% cash back on entertainment, which includes WDW, including AP's. It's a better rate than the Disney Visa through Chase.

No kids on shoulders during fireworks

No talking allowed in the pre shows for attractions that have them

No children older than 10 in strollers

Punishment for ignoring “no flash photography”

I'm pretty sure those are all popular opinions, save for your baffling hate of infants in the third one. ;)

Are they popular? I see these things happening all the time. If these were popular opinions, I wouldn’t see it happen constantly.

They're popular around here, certainly. That doesn't mean that "the great unwashed" follow them.

There were some things I really hated in the DCA one, such as Mark Silverman not sounding like Rod Serling at all in the attraction audio. I really wished that they could of at least used some of the DHS sound effects in it like the pre-drop lightning sounds, cable snapping sounds, and the "clicking" sounds. This is a good example of someone who tried mixing it with the DCA audio:
It just seems like there was an entirely different sound designer for the DCA one.

Yeah the sounds were bad. but I'm a drop lover.
Thats why I dont mind mission breakout outside of ugly building as much as other people.
