Unpopular Disney World Opinions

Probably people missing the old Maelstrom. Kind of sad that an awesome country like Norway now is essentially represented at Epcot as Frozen Land.
I think my biggest problem with FEA at the moment is that the Maelstrom ride system was not built at all for high capacity, which they should've thought about when making a ride about the cash cow that is Frozen

6.) Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway (super excited for it! :D) has no reason to be placed in the Chinese Theater? Why didn't they put it in MK? or at least somewhere that wasn't where GMR stood
I'm going to take a stab and say the answer is available space? Of course, the exterior for such a ride makes no sense.

I bet most wouldn't care whatsoever about the following, but I do:

Sporting your Harry Potter garb in the WDW parks. So you like casting spells do ya? Well I don't cast spells, I cast smells.....something foul comes your way next time I see you in your Gryffindor T shirt in the Space Mountain queue.

Walking around Epcot with a banshee on your shoulder. Dude, you are out of place and I'm ready to knock that miniature bird off its perch, so help me.

Wearing your matching bride and groom Mouse ears and hats showing us you're newlyweds around the parks. Take your out of shape, trailer trash, 2 domestic violence episodes and 3 more trips to Walmart shy of a quick divorce back to your $38 per night room on I Drive.

I'm not too harsh, am I?

1. I like FP+ and it works pretty well, at least at the individual level.
2. Soarin’ isn’t a great attraction. I can find an IMAX screen anywhere and the CGI is terrible in it.
3. The crowds (other than at the HEA fireworks) aren’t that bothersome and are fairly easy to work around. (I recognize that I go usually just with one other person and this probably shapes some of the ease).
4. I like some of the upcharge events and don’t mind paying for them.

If only they'd taken a look slightly to the right at the Animation Courtyard that's crying out for a new attraction and has a wildly misused building straight down its barrel that's currently featuring a franchise that just had a massive, unprecedented themed land dedicated to it on the other side of the park.

But then, that's not why they closed The Great Movie Ride to begin with, so maybe it wouldn't have mattered to them. But it would have made a difference for the park.

thank you, couldn't have said it better myself. MGM, EPCOT, and AK are all full of empty space waiting to be used. Especially EPCOT, which had room for expansions that never came both around Innoventions and the World Showcase

I've got a few...
  1. The Winnie the Pooh ride is underrated.
  2. So are the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight (though the lines are way too long).
  3. I like the new Test Track and the new Soarin'. I'm not sure if I think they're better than the originals, but still...
  4. I would much rather have Journey Into Imagination With Figment stay that way forever if it's the only thing keeping Figment from getting kicked out of EPCOT to make room for the Inside Out characters.
  5. I hate Frozen. It's nothing more than a crappy Tangled cash-grab that they clearly weren't expecting to be as big of a hit as it was.

Question- what are your most unpopular opinions about the Disney Parks? Here's a few of mine:
  1. Magic Kingdom is the worst and most stagnant of the 4 Parks in Florida.
  2. Peter Pan is one of the weaker rides in the resort, and it doesn't deserve a 60+ minute. Maybe 10 minutes max.
  3. Most of the "Magical Colors" (rose gold, briar rose gold, etc) are ugly...
  4. Wide World of Sports is stupid should be demolished for....
  5. a (necessary) 5th theme park.
I agree with all but 5. They can't keep transportation running smoothly, they have too many resorts already, and tbey have too much trouble keeping the parks they have in running order.

0) Paul Pressler might be long gone, but his model for running the parks remains and no one seems interested in changing this
1) Disney fans are a major part of the problems plaguing the resort and the company at large such as declining quality/price increases and lack of creative vision
2) More people would have been on board with the Epcot “reimagining” if they built a remake of JII 1.0 or Horizons and nothing else in their plans changed
3) Disney should have just let The Four Seasons take over GF if they expect to command the prices it demands
4) DVC is a cancer and will kill WDW
5) If a greater share of the profits from your WDW vacation were reinvested back into the resort, you’d have a TDR quality product without price increases
6) Cost isn’t the reason why monorail expansion hasn’t happened
7) Not Disney related, but Universal is not a good long term home for Nintendo in themed entertainment, neither is Disney.

AND one more
8) Disney should tear down DCA and WDSP and continued Capex in those gates at the expense of each resorts’ other needs, is holding both back.

1. Parades are stupid and should end.
2. They should have built the promised Israel pavilion in WS.
3. There should be one Glatt kosher restaurant somewhere in the World serving freshly made food.
4. Buzz Lightyears space ranger spin and toy story mania should be demolished in favor of real rides. If I wanted to play video games, I could just look at my phone.
5. I would like a time machine that can rewind to the 1980s or 1990s. I mean for real, for life in general, because I was younger then, and I still had hope.

  • Character Meet & Greets are dumb and a waste of time.
  • Peter Pan's Flight is not a must-do attraction.
  • Extra Magic Hours isn't really much of a perk.
  • Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge wasn't worth the loss of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
    • Star Tours is better than Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run.
  • I still think a Russia Pavilion in World Showcase would be nice.
  • WDW's Space Mountain is better than Disneyland's.
  • I think adding IPs to World Showcase can still work very nicely.
  • The Main Street Electrical Parade needs to die.

Here goes for what I think will be unpopular opinions around here:

1) Maelstrom was ambitious but ultimately never lived up to its promise, while FEA is a very solid attraction.
2) On balance, the Iger era has been better for quality in the parks than at least the last half of the Eisner era.
3) The preponderance of slow-moving rides explaining a concept at the original EPCOT Center was a surprising and significant flaw in the design of the park.
4) The Communicore/Innoventions buildings were kind of ugly.
5) For someone who never saw Kitchen Kabaret, Food Rocks was actually kind of fun.
6) Festival of the Lion King and the Finding Nemo musical at AK are vastly overrated.
7) The Great Movie Ride really wasn't that great.
8) For all its problems, attraction upkeep is better at Disneyland Paris than the Magic Kingdom.
9) Disneyland now has the better Splash Mountain simply because it is in such better condition, somehow even when the MK version has just come out of refurbishment.
10) I don't get the eye rolling about Toy Story Midway Mania on here; it's fun!
11) Wishes was sappy and sentimental; Happily Ever After is a massive improvement.
