Unmagical Day at the Magic Kingdom

The level of criticism directed at WDW has really increased lately.

Was Katiebug just ahead of her time all along?
I think it’s just a sign of the times? She wasn’t a trendsetter by any means.

There’s a convoluted mess of pressures/stresses/strains on a majority of people - really worldwide - and everything is getting heightened critique/criticism.

Disney isn’t immune…they’ll get more than their share.

There's a big difference between criticizing Disney for things that they do and actions that they take, legitimate things that affect every day guests like price raises, removing of long-standing services, not building enough to capacity.

Katiebug was different. Her criticisms of Disney were ridiculous, and a symptom of a self-entitled mindset that some people have. She expected Disney to go out of their way to do things for her family that weren't necessarily reasonable.

So now, she wasn't a trend setter to the modern legitimate, or even over the top Disney criticism that specifically criticizes things that Disney is doing differently then what they used to.

The OP only posted once and never again? Was it just an epic troll post? As many stated several legit complaints were buried in there under a lot of entitlement and overall ignorance.

Listen I expect to deal with crowds and some frustrations, but I really hope to have a positive attitude and make the most of our day at the parks, even if we run into some struggles. I've done enough research and planning to have a baseline and will take the day as it comes (and I have to write this out and remind myself of this , as somewhat of a cynic and pessimist.

Have I told you lately that I 👍 you?

If it was an epic troll post, it was one of the most elaborate troll posts of all time and I congratulate them for it! I did a little investigating way back when I discovered this thread:
charlie-day-its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia.gif

And it appears that she posted it across fan sites, consumer affairs/BBB, and wherever else would listen all around the same time.

Here's a Consumer Affairs report from March 6, 2014 (same date as KatieBug here, and she took the time at some point to become a "Verified Reviewer"):

Also, it appears she was (at least at one point) a poster or longtime lurker on The Dis boards, her account was created in 2009 about five years prior to her posting the same story there on March 6, 2014, so that makes me think this was actually a legit breakdown with a subsequent short-lived social media vendetta. https://www.disboards.com/threads/our-un-magical-day.3245336/ (the post only created 24 pages of responses on The Dis... amateurs)

Now, I've got to find something else to do the rest of the day to avoid work I should be doing ;)

It’s the worst I’ve ever seen it on here. Remember the good old days when all people used to complain about was Gay Days, the Yeti, a light bulb is missing in (fill in the blank), and of course all the infamous tipping threads (why should I have to tip for a buffet, why should I have to tip for housekeeping, blah, blah, blah).

Now, it is complaint thread after complaint thread about anything and everything: New rides that haven’t even been built, new movies that have not even been released, and everything in between. I really do not get it. Is this a Disney fan site or a Disney hate club? Someone please tell me just how much Disney hate I am supposed to have.

So nothing legit then?

Just something to keep people occupied between trips 😊

I agree with you there. We can postulate - however - within reason.

So i think it’s ok to ask why guardians is in Epcot? Or why it’s taking 11 years for tron? Or say this black panther movie is not tracking too well as it stands…

But it has to be tempered and it often isn’t.

All forums tend to be similar…the criticsm is too hard…and so is the praise. The reality is in the middle as with most things. I think it’s fair to say the pendulum is swinging more on the left side of that diagram right now.

People are gonna love parks if the economy slows…because they’ll need us for the first time in 10 years. Fear not.

That was some pretty good complaining. :p

On the contrary, I think it was absolutely legit to discuss whether Guardians should have been built in Epcot, back before the ride opened. Whether when first rumoured, announced or during construction.

Or whether MMRR should have been an addition not a replacement ride.

Are you seriously suggesting we should not discuss things like planned new rides, lands etc until they are actually built?

Obviously, that is not what I am saying at all. I am talking about all the geniuses on here with working crystal balls who instantly pounce on anything when it is announced, screeching "That ride is gonna suck!" before the ride is built or "That movie is gonna suck!" before the movie is released.
