Don't you know how important fiber is in your daily diet? Never underestimate the importance of regularity.
Cap's Baked Beans

Soak 1 lb navy beans for 24 hours in 8 cups of water

Add 1/2 tsp baking soda and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer one hour or until just cooked (but still firm)

Drain beans and mix into stone/clay/ceramic bean pot with the following:
1/2 cup molasses
3 Tbsp maple syrup
1 onion, diced small
1 tsp dry mustard
6 oz salt pork, cut into 4 pieces
1/4 tsp black pepper

Add enough water to cover beans. Bake 3 hours at 300 degrees.
