Are you guys kidding me? Ellen and Bill Nye suck and totally ruin the show (not to mention date it). I understand the original version of the ride was boring but tying it in with pop culture garbage or whatever you want to call it was not the answer. I have been hoping for a LONG time now that the ride is redone so that it keeps the dinosaurs but removes ellen and bill nye from the show. The ride is totally silly and dumb right now, I liked it better when it was more serious.
Well, thats why Disney has something for everybody. Also just so you know; Ellen and Bill Nye suck and totally ruin the show = Opinion. One that is not shared by most I might add.

Adding Ellen and Bill Nye greatly improved the original and I'd like to see it stay.

And the Cronkite narration on Spaceship Earth improved the original, but alas, it didn't last.

Capt. Eo was better than Magic Journeys and Honey I Shrunk the Audience is better than Capt. Eo.

But beyond those, The Living Seas was NOT improved by doing away with the Sea Cabs, Living with the Land did NOT improve Listen to the Land. Food Rocks replacing Kitchen Kaberet was a wash. The incarnations that followed the original Journey Into Imagination have not been improvements, though the current version is slightly better than the one it replaced.

Test Track is wonderful and Missions:Space is fantastic, but I miss the World of Motions and Horizons. And now we have nothing instead of Wonders of Life.

Sorry to get side-tracked here, but the trend leaves big concerns.

I really like this attraction the way it is (rehab not withstanding.) That Stupid Judy line cracks me up every time!
"Stupid Judy" still gets a chuckle out of me too... I agree this is by no means THE must-see attraction at Epcot, but in my opinion there are plenty of other things with much bigger problems to worry about in this park than UoE at the moment.

-Living Seas is one example, and about to get a lenghty rehab.

-SE: keep the ride, just re-do the track/cars it seems to be deteriorating by the day.. its very bumpy, shaky, and squeaky at the moment.

-Imagination: I really don't know what to say... The ride with Figment is just sad, and HISTA, while the effects are still good... the film is like watching an episode of "I Love the 80's"

-WoL: currently just sitting there lifeless.

Theres all this and more... UoE is honestly still a decent ride with an overall enjoyable script that still holds some of the Eduatainment we know and love Epcot for. Sure I'd love an update, but my point is that it is not at the top of my list as far as things that need to be fixed at Epcot goes.

I still like UoE and don't feel it is dated. The original UoE was very boring and I can always remeber sleeping through it, except for the Dinosaur part. You could have said Ellen was dated a few years back, when she wasn't doing much but with the popularity of her talk show, she no longer appears dated. To me, UoE is still very much part of the orignal Epcot theming. I hope that it doesn't get replaced by something of the non edutainment type.

the problem with bill nye, is that he dates the show, kids don't know who he is

i barely remember the actuall show myself

elen is still around, and so, still relavant, but bill's time might have come, unless he's planing a big comeback:animwink:

I wouldn't say that. Many kids know who he is through his videos. Elementary school science teachers use them all the time.

I go to the Universe of energy every time I go to EPCOT and I have been noticing more and more problems with it every time I go. For instance for a long time now the huge door that seperates the boarding station/Movie from the Dinosaurs has been broken so that during the entire end of the ride you can hear Dinosaurs growling. Also the film in different sections of the ride has broken two or three times while watching it. One more thing is everytime I go on it one or both of the middle vehicles have been missing. Plus there are a lot of smaller problems as well. I think this ride needs a major rehab. Keep the show get rid of the show I don't care but they need to make it digital because of the film spots and film breaking all the time. Also fix the vehicles if they're broken. And finally fix that door!!! It's awful listening to Dino's and Jepordy at the same time. Oh and as for Bill Nye kids know who he is. I'm in Ninth grade and they still show us videos of him and make us take notes on it. I really hope this gets the rehab it needs.

Same with that Einstein guy, I mean really... what has he done in the past 50 years!?

In your opinion, should we also remove all the characters from splash mountain? Last time I checked, most kids had no idea who they were either.

lol I really don't think it hurts to have Bill Nye in the attraction, and I don't think he really dates it either. For all kids these days know, he could just be a character made for the attraction, or as SirGoofy mentioned- kids might actually recognize him from videos. He is nothing more than a character in an attraction.

The problem with Ellens Energy Adventure is that it wastes so much of the pavilions in built potential - space for the Radok screens, the finale (ex) mirrored wall angles and projection layout... the entire layout and shape of the building - like so much of todays Epcot it wouldn`t have taken a lot for it to have been so much more.
