Universe of Energy goes seasonal

If UoE is seasonal, then who is to say it won't close when TT opens up again...and open again when the summer crowds start pouring in? The fact is, when Horizons went out...and M:S was being built, there was no Soarin' so there were two attractions missing from Epcot at one time. Fast forward 'til today and we have M:S open, Soarin' open, and eventually we'll have a Nemo attraction to attract some attention...so having UoE seasonal and WoL closed at the same time isn't all that far fetched...that's just my opinion, anyway.

But there's also a precedent for the other argument, while Test Track was being built Horizons closing was delayed (or did it actually close and re-open), to keep Future World East from feeling to much like a ghost town with two out of four pavillions closed. Now with the Wonders of Life out of the picture (it won't re-open any more will it?) it seems it makes even more sense to only have one of any of the three remaining pavilions closed at any time, so presumambly they should wat until Test Tracks maintaince re-hab is completed.

I completely agree. WoL is now completely out of the picure, so both sides of Future World have 3 pavillions. Once TT re-opens, if they choose to close UoE, that would still leave 2/3 of the attractions on Future World East open... not an unrealistic number.

PS- to the person who said Living with the Land's days were numbered... I wouldn't be so sure about that. Living with the Land isn't going anywhere anytime soon.:)

CoP closed for about 4 days to put in wallpaper in some of the theaters as well as other minor changes, it was not because it is a seasonal attraction

I guess I'll only bother saying this one more time (like anyone listens anyway): Wonders of Life is not out of the picture yet.

Wrong piece, trust me, I've looked eveywhere for it too!
Are you sure. The piece on the Sound of Magic site is the exact same piece I hear at UoE everytime. Have you tried downloading it.

That would be me. And I wasn't quoting a specific rumor--I was just recognizing the reality that, were it not sponsored by Nestle', it would be a prime candidate for closure. It's classic Epcot--which they've clearly established that they want to destroy; it's expensive to maintain; it's labor-intensive (though less so these days, as they've cut the number of opreational boats to a bare minimum, with no regard to standby wait times). And now it's no longer the "premier" attraction at the pavilion, with Soarin' in place. Mark my words, once Nestle' pulls out, Living with the Land won't be far behind. If you have reason to believe otherwise, I'd be interested to hear what it is.

Hey hey! Finally!

A big WDWMagic welcome to planet7!

Note to the regulars; planet7 is one of the most knowledgable people I know about the technological backstage aspects and workings of the parks; in particular EPCOT/Epcot and specifically UoE. And a great guy!

And someone I WILL be emailing in a week or so.... :D

TestTrack could be looking for the original Load music, which is indeed a rare and wonderful piece. It's much slower, has sort of a "mysterious" feel to it. Is that one, TT?

Btw, did you know that the music for the original Theater I film ("The Energy Creation Story") was originally written for Disnelyand's Adventure Thru Inner Space (and to the best of my knowledge, never used). It was modified some for the original Universe of Energy, and fit the feel of the film perfectly!

Awesome. Welcome as well. I'm hoping that Living With The Land will stay in place for quite some time. It is a fun, relaxing ride and it does very much feel like classic Epcot. Hopefully, if nothing else, it will stay around simply for the Garden Grill resturant. I haven't eaten in there in AGES (actually it was a year or two before it went character), but I would assume that viewing the show scenes are still a big draw to the resturant.

The show scenes that are visible from the restaurant comprise at most, maybe a fifth of the entire ride space. They could easily keep those (probably nixing the limited animation and effects) and eliminate the rest of the ride.

I'd hate to see it go, too. I'd hate to see any more of classic Epcot be destroyed. But that's very clearly the path that they're on. I truly believe that the only thing keeping it alive is Nestle's sponsorship. With Soarin' open, they don't even need it as a driver for the food court any more.

Were they not, by and large, dumb drooling beasts--the velociraptors and such being the exception, rather than the rule? Raptors are not represented in the Diorama.

Hey, Martin!! Great to hear from you! I'd been thinking about you.

I'm afraid I don't have much time for the boards, but you had to know a discussion of NRG's imminenent demise would drag me out. :)

THAT'S IT! YAY! I'm not clinically insane! Infact, I still hear it when you load in Theater 1.

Hey, I didn't say you weren't clinically insane. :D

I always loved that piece as well, and can still hear it in my own mind as well--right down to the operational cues and prompts (I worked NRG for a year and a half).

Unfortunately, I haven't seen it released on any official Disney media, nor "unoffocially" as an MP3. You can hear part of it on Martin's Energy video.
