And I never said anything about a water ride either... I said water-less.

I can logically disprove your 'rumor' right now anyway. A ride with a 'drop' by any means has to have some sort of effective way to slow down the vehicle and thus stop it eventually. Having a ride just 'drop and stop' is not thrilling enough to even waste the time or money in developement. An easy way to slow the ride down though is to have it go through various turns and hills, causing heat, sound, and friction to slowly cause it to slow down. In otherwords... have it 'coast' to a stop (like a coaster). This is not only more thrilling but more effective. A coaster does not have to have an inversion to be a coaster... just coast. There is a Scooby Doo coaster that I feel will be the premise behind this Mummy attraction.

I am not going to bother arguing reliability because the fact is that a lot of people on this board are 'in the company'. I am in the company computer and I have plenty of sources myself. THe thing is is that what your source said goes against every other clue and rumor that has been released. Unless he works at Creative or is upper-level management in Attractions or Ride and Show... I'm not going to beleive you.

Chris is talking about something entirely different that what you have in mind.

Yes, it is a dark ride with coaster elements, but it is NOT a one-drop wonder either.

People are getting totally upset about this ride coming in i look at it this way, im sure that universal knows what exactly they are doing ok? I mean do you think that they would take aprat one of the most notorious rides of all time to put up a piece of garbage no way...they no exactly what they are doing and im sure this ride will be no short of amazing i continue to think of something along the lines of amazing adventures of spiderman but a bit different. And for all of you out there that are saying that they will never enjoy this ride and it is goning to suck simply because it replaced a legend thats so close minded its stupid i mean honestly there is more to the reason they took down Kong instead of just putting up another studio that u dont even know about so we shouldnt get into that and everyone is going nuts about M:S more and more because they are finding out more about it and less is herd about the replacement of Horizons which is also a legend ride if u ask any real Disney World fan but they are still willing to give it a shot and are hopeful which i think you should be too once more is released and rumored about this ride it will get much more popular trust me so give it a chance and dont knock it before you try it

Hey Ian -

Perhaps you should think about punctuation, capitalization, paragraphs and such - Grammer is our friend :)

I have no idea if you made any point in your post at all - I couldn't follow what you were saying

Umm...Ian...I agree with the Diva...(just try a little...it's easier on the eyes)

But, I did understand your point...and I agree with you to some extent. I have been willing to give it a shot...and it deserves a chance because I agree that Universal would not replace a Legend for a flop. (I for one did NOT like the Mummy movies because I thought they seemed like a lot of cheesy fake looking effects without a "real" good story) (In my opinion it was a studio saying..."Look at all the stuff we can do with computers" and those effects have been seriously outdated already)

If you don't think so...look at the war scene in Two Towers compared to any of the major battle scenes in any of the Mummy movies.

Note of humorous interest: In making a comment about bad grammar, you yourself misspelled the word "grammar".

Anywho, I liked thr original Karloff movie and I kind of liked the remake, but Mummy Returns was just awful. Don't worry, I'm sure the ride will be a top 5 ride on the Universal Orlando resort for a lot of people.

The rumor I heard was that this would be a LIM launched Premier coaster, that would go both forwards and backwards while featuring inversions. Premier, if you remember, is the company that has been building those coasters for Six Flags that use lap bars while involving inversions. A LIM launch is certainly in line with a car chase scene. However, I lost faith in Universal a long time ago...and if this ride is to open in about a year, it will be nothing...it takes Six Flags a year to design and build their coasters (well, they don't design them, but SOMEONE does...)...

Nope. Premier may or may not be designing the coaster elements for the ride, but I would rather hold those details back until the ride is announced.

>>>and if this ride is to open in about a year, it will be nothing...it takes Six Flags a year to design and build their coasters<<<

Universal isn't Six Flags. In fact, they are spending more on this ride that what most Six Flags parks are worth in total.

How do you know how much they are spending on a coaster with no facts released? By the way, it was a RUMOR, like everything you say. Other people may fall for your opinions disguised as facts, but I won't...and I never said I was right on this anyway. I find it very hard to believe that you have all the insider details on Universal and Disney projects...really...I do.

O think an Indiana Jones type ride will work well.It can go up to 25 mph. but still give a Spidey type sensation just with real sets.I think it would be the smartest thing for them to do.

Universal hints at new ride with filing
The expected attraction at the Orlando theme park could be based on the two Mummy films.

Universal Studios wants to keep Kongfrontation's replacement under wraps, but newly unearthed filings with the U.S. Patentand TrademarkOffice point to a ride based on The Mummy.

It's been an open secret for months now among employees and industry consultants that the Orlando park is planning an indoor roller coaster based on the movie and a sequel, The Mummy Returns.

But even as park officials were declining comment on the project, corporate lawyers were filing a pair of Mummy-related names with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Universal City Studios of California filed the name Revenge of the Mummy in October, then filed a more descriptive name just before the holidays: Escape from the Mummy's Tomb.

Susan Lomax, a Universal Orlando spokeswoman, said, "I'm not aware of any such activity," but both files say that the names would be used for "amusement park services."

Kong, which opened with the park in 1990, closed in September. Universal President Bob Gault has declined to comment on a replacement but said it would be a "mega-attraction."

Still, the filings are no guarantee the Mummy ride is a sure thing.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises filed the name Sylvester McMonkey McBean's Very Unusual Driving Machines for an attraction in the mid-1990s. Universal planned to open the children's ride at Seuss Landing in Islands of Adventure.

It wasn't ready when the park opened in 1999, and park officials said there was no opening date. Lomax said on Wednesday she had no new information on the ride, but Patent Office records show the name was "abandoned" around the time Islands opened.
