Universal Question

Hello all!

I was wondering if Universal can be done in 1 day? I am obsessed with WDW and don't want to spend too much time at Uni if I don't need to. I'd rather spend the extra day in Disney.
It will be me, my DH, DS 17, DD 15, DD 3, D? 9 months...

What do you all think?

If it's crowded, the Express Pass can save you tons of time. It's vastly better than Disney's FastPass. It's good on all the rides except the Harry Potter ones. You just show the pass at a special line and basically walk on the ride. No reservations required. The price does vary by season. We always stay at one of the Universal hotels that includes the Express Pass so we have never paid for it directly. Check out Universal's web site. Also, they only sell a limited number each day, so if you want them, you should get them in advance.

They have an express pas which varies in price during the year. I've seen it range anywhere from $35-$135 dollars for two parks. Since I do quick trips there, I'll get it when I'm there on busier days to make sure I get on all my favorites.

Good to know! Thanks for that!

I think you should all go as a family, your children will love it too, my daughter has gone 2 times she was 16 months and 2 . We are going for a week in May for her birthday. The big rides you can do rider swap so the kids can go on 2 times since they can go on with each of you and the rider swap they have is nice the rides have a room with a tv which is convenient for every one . Here is a few pics of my 2 year old loving Universal!

Wow! You're daughter is adorable! Thank you so much for sharing... I don't do the "big" rides so there would be no need for rider swap. It is definitely something to think about. I just priced out 1 day for the 3 of them and it's almost $500... I think I'll save the money on my ticket and our 3 year old's ticket and spend the money in Disney... I am, after all, a Disney freak. I really won't mind spending the day at the pool with the littlest ones and taking it easy before we move on to Disney. Part of me is really only letting the big kids and my husband do Universal to appease them... My husband always says he really likes Disney, but would like to go other places too, so, if I can get him to Uni prior to our arrival at Disney I know he will be very happy that he's finally doing something different in Orlando.

Just so you know, Universal only has 3 large coaster between the 2 parks. Disney fans TOTALLY exaggerate the thrill component at Universal. Just remember, to Disney fans, if it moves faster than a park bench, it's a mega thrill ride.

Just after Diagon Alley opened, we went and were able to comfortably cover both Universal parks in 2 days. But to be fair, it was the last weekend August and my kids are old enough that we can comfortably take the single-rider lines. Both HP rides, Transformers and Minions all had waits in excess of 3 hours 2 hours after park opening. Also Universal is more physically taxing than WDW, between the mile+ walk from parking to the entrance, and the sheer size of the parks.
