Sounds awesome. Thanks, Tarzan. I am glad this is opening in 2010. It has the makings of being awesome, and I think its tangible presence will dissuade Disney from cutting any corners in the execution of Fantasyland.

Was at IOA and US last week. Really hated it. They simply don't know how to run a park. Customer service sucks and their version of fast pass sucks. As much as I like Harry Potter, I don't see me bothering to go there.

BTW, I do have some construction photos, if anyone is interested, I can post.

Pfft, atleast Express doesn't say "LOL LOL, COME BACK IN 30 HOURS LOLOL" like Fast.

The Forbidden Journey scenic is being installed and it is absolutely stunning! We are starting to see things put together and it does not disappoint. There are many challenges with just these show elements in that many of them are 30 or 40 feet above ground. many of the major effects have been mocked up and tested and some are even more impressive than we expected. As I've said before I think the ride will be ready by early Spring. For all those who do not plan on experiencing this ride I would say you would be missing out on a major breakthrough in the history of dark rides.

Flight of the Hippogriff art has what looks to be a Buckbeak AA!

:sohappy:

I noticed that too! Also according to twitter, the Q & A part of the webcast revealed there will be a mini "care of magical creatures" lesson before you board the ride! Clearly that's where the AA will come into play. I picture it playing out like the old "Triceratops Encounter" attraction except this will be just the pre-show. Brilliant! :sohappy::sohappy:

EXCELLENT! I've been waiting for one of your little updates. :slurp: Thanks so much.

They need to hire you to promote this thing, seriously. Your comments and information are the ONLY thing keeping me interested in this project. None of the other promotional material, images, videos, etc. have given me any interest in this at all, in fact most of it makes me think this is going to be a disaster ... they need new marketing people ... like YOU!!

I just want to give you kudos for giving out the information so passionately to keep this thing alive in at least one person.

LOL I couldn't agree more! I don't understand why they aren't shouting about this ride from the rooftops. Then again I'm not a marketing expert and I suppose they have their reasons for waiting to reveal the details. I am obviously holding back quite a bit so I don't get in trouble but I'm glad what I have been able to tell has ignited your interest.

Would really like to know what "Spring 2010" really means... Mother is planning to go to Florida in the first half of 2010, and could do with heading out after this has opened if does open around this time. We'd might as well get our moneys worth if we're going that way!

After recently starting to read the books, I'm becoming quite excited about this for a change. Can't help but feel disappointed that Dueling Dragons and Unicorn have been rethemed when it wasn't required (particularly Dragons). But I'll look forward to a new ride at least. Is there no Hogwarts Express ride though? Or Walk through? Bit of a suprise that.

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Actor Tom Felton ("Draco Malfoy" in the Harry Potter films) was on hand to help Universal Orlando Resort announce specifics of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction today.
The park unveiled a fly-through video showing the major points of interest, new concept art and more.
Felton had the privilege of confirming what was already expected by most fans: that the attraction will open in the spring of 2010.
Upon entering the park through the "arches of Hogsmeade," guests will be greeted by the Hogwarts Express and station, and free to roam the 22-acre park situated in Universal's Islands of Adventure:
  • Zonko's and Honeydukes shops
  • Three Broomsticks and Hog's Head pubs featuring British fare and Potter-inspired beverages like butterbeer
  • An owlery, with the ability to send mail with official Hogwarts insignia and postage
  • Ollivander's, where guests can experience a "magical" wand selection just like the book and movie, and purchase the wand
  • Dervish & Banges, featuring a variety of magical instruments, including "real" remembralls and spectrespects
  • Elements of the Tri-Wizard Tournament, including a Dragon Challenge: two high-speed rollercoasters in one
  • Family-friendly hippogryph flights across the park (after training by Hagrid, of course)
  • "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" -- very few details revealed about this other than phrases like "never been done before," "brand-new technology" -- but sounds like will be a guided adventure taking guests through iconic locales and experiences scenes and characters straight from the books and films.
The announcements were made today by Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative; Paul Daurio, producer of the attraction; and Alan Gilmore, an art director from the Harry Potter films.
Stay tuned for new pictures, videos and even more coming soon!

Admittedly, not that exciting. But Tuesday should be a blockbuster event as Universal opens up about the park in detail for the first time.

So nothing new to counter the new FL at WDW? Huh, I would have thought the Studios would at least get a new King Kong clone from the Universal California park.

You do realize that the King Kong at Hollywood will be along the studio tour, not an actual attraction, right?

:brick: Nice try. The new Fantasyland is a counter to HP. Universal was already getting something new while WDW was not getting anything until just a few days ago. It was Disney that needed to counter, not Universal.
